Aussies! Check in here!

The weather today was disappointing given the other Friday Grand Final holidays we have had. I checked an app to see the forecast this morning, no rain until 1pm. Left for the shops and got drenched at 10.30am!

If you're going to the show, I hope you check out the new AgTech exhibit showcasing technology on the farm. As for the number of days it's open, it's been ten or eleven days for a while now. It used to open on the Thursday and close nine days later. Most of the animal judging is conducted before the official opening but there are still plenty of animals to see.

Was that a reluctant Come on Eagles DarkElf because you're firmly ABC?

(for you non-AFL types - Anyone But Collingwood)

As for the Show, yep I'm remembering back to the days when I was a kid and it took up most of your school holidays, we even had Show Day as a public holiday in the second week of the school holidays. People made it into a long weekend. All gone now thanks to the Libs. Going to the Show on the last day used to mean cheaper show bags, that probably doesn't happen now either. Certainly do remember the animal smells. Had to be careful not to step in the cow poo when walking down the aisles in the cattle sheds. Even the grand arena ain't so grand these days. They still have the old grand stand which is now just a place to sit that looks onto nothing, meanwhile the new arena is out in the open and is smaller. Used to have the daredevil car stunt team racing around in the old grand arena, certainly can't do that in the new one. It's just not the same Show anymore, more a food festival with some animals, rides and show bags thrown in. Couldn't find any of the free food sampling that you used to get. Still planning to go tomorrow so will see if it has improved since my last visit.

Yep a very reluctant come on Eagles, glad they won though. And as for the Storm well just like Richmond, they didn't come to play, couldn't get going to score.

Afternoon all,

Well it's October and the weather is warming up if for only a couple of days. Been hearing and seeing the trucks most of the day gathering up all the hard rubbish left on the nature strips. They actually came on the allotted day. The stuff usually sits there most of the week.

So no Melbourne team won either of the Grand Finals. What that thing about, "it's great for footy", yeah sure. Well the cricket has started so that will help distract the mind, although it will be weird watching it on Channel 7. Not sure how that will go. Who will be commentating? Will they have a team of proper experts or just some sports reporters.

As for ScoMo well he was his belligerent self on the Insiders. Fancy stating that the ABC should get back to it's job and considering his party was the ones that caused the issue and also shut down parliament because they were having internal problems. The arrogance of the govt was on show. And Malcolm is taking a leaf out of Abbott's play book. Just be happy with your millions mate and your rather healthy govt pension. And yes we all know you mentioned which reporters you didn't like and your mate decided to act on it. Just stop the lies. People are sick of the political BS. So are we meant to believe the chairman just had what, an epiphany one day..."Justin this is Malcolm, ah I mean God..get rid of you know who, let your people go and your budget won't be cut...ah I mean soul, your soul will be healed"..."p.s. don't forget drinks on Thursday, don't worry I have the water".

Hope the rest of the week is good for you.

The Bathurst weekend is not quite doing it. Noone is in the pool, they are all standing around watching either a Bathurst race or MotoGP or Japan F1 GP practice or baseball. I have cooked up a storm for day 1 of their weekend and noone is touching anything. I thought it was funny when the Porsche driver lost his front spoiler and was wheelstanding across the top, but apparently if it is not a Ford driver wrapping around a tree it doesn't count. Blokes. I tell you, if they don't eat all of this I will just take off to the beach and leave them to their own devices tomorrow.

I see you've made the basic mistake all women make...you're thinking like a woman when it comes to sports parties. Should of just put the food out and left for the day down to the beach or go out with your girlfriends. Like talking when watching sports of TV. Guys can actually sit around and watch sports all day without the need for conversation. Only timeout is for a pee or beer break.

You could of walked around the place topless and they wouldn't of noticed except for a quick look then back to the sport on TV.

Afternoon all,

Well it's a wet day in Melbourne town. Even had lightning and a thunderstorm last night. Given that the previous days had been warmish and sunny it was hard to believe we were going to get any rain, given that we haven't had much rain during Winter. Any rain at this stage it welcome and nobody would be complaining. Even the tradies down the road working on that house wouldn't be complaining. Haven't heard any power tools all day.

Didn't manage to get to the Show last week since it started raining when I was driving to the station, so decided to go shopping and discovered prawns were on sale so decided to make a prawn curry, yummo. Then went shoe shopping on the Friday and spent some dollars on buying boots that were on sale, saved $80 which was good.

I didn't know that the Opera House was a billboard, at least that's what ScoMo said. Not sure we should advertise that in the tourist brochures, I mean who wants to take a photo of a billboard. Could rename it to the 'Billboard House'. As for that bully Alan Jones well he has shown once again that a man in power can say and do anything without any consequences. It's ok apparently to intimidate and threaten women so long as you have people in high places who back you up. I noted that the petition against the advertising has now reached over 260,000 and they are holding the barrier draw in private fearing protests. Well they wanted advertising for their race, they got it. No doubt Jones will be calling these protests left wing greenies, yarp yarp. Next it will be the old free speech thing.
ScoMo obviously wouldn't have an issue with the advertising since he comes from a marketing background. Next it will be advertising for the Libs next election bid being shown on the Opera House. I mean anything is possible now that the gate has been opened to advertising on the place.

Speaking of the Libs I saw that they have been hiding climate change reports from the public and releasing them when we have been distracted with other events. Like the Grand Finals, Christmas, etc. They have been doing this since their first year in govt. Abbott did it so did Turnbull and also now ScoMo. But not to worry we will meet our commitments, now if only we could stop the Chinese and the Indians modernising, apparently it's their fault for wanting cars and the same economic benefits we get from modern technology. I mean they can't have what we have. Kinda like the Catholic church keeping learning to itself. "I mean if everyone can read how are we going to control them". Where's a great flood when you need one?

Hope the rest of your week is hassle free.

My week will be fantastic, off to Fiji for 7 days, might even come home to a new PM if recent history is an indicator

Hey buddy, have you got an option to network wuth other single mums? Maybe get a nite off a fortnight or something.

It pains me that you're missing out. Not just getting laid, but other social and personal time.

Yeah, I have a bunch of other solo mum-friends. We catch up quite a bit, which is nice. My personal time is playing computer games...so I'm not really looking for more "me time".

I just came back from my 10 days in Singapore/Malaysia. It's been wonderful. My kiddo did great. Unlike me. I whinged quite a bit. With 3 days to go, I got tonsillitis and hurt my sciatic (who would have thought that someone at my age would have to take it easy on waterslides?!) So after 4 days of waterslides I could barely walk. But it was worth it. We had a blast. I have antibiotics for the throat now and will be back to work tomorrow.

Have a great trip!

Afternoon all,

Having lovely sunny days here in Melbourne town. Was actually rather warm yesterday even though the temps were relatively moderate. Probably the shock of the sun actually having some warmth in it. Tried a new bank branch yesterday, a little far although less crowded. Have to keep asking why all these people aren't at work. It's not just pensioners out and about.

Just did the mowing since the sun was out. Have to get back into doing that again after the Winter. Muscles are complaining a bit. Always get that cut grass smell afterwards when the wind blows.

Well not sure why the cricket was on in Dubai to no audience. Obviously a pay day for both teams from the host country.

I see that Perth is getting a dose of the wet stuff. Will see how much of that actually gets to Melbourne. Wild weather happening in both hemispheres. Not long now that someone will be declaring the end of the world. Which can't possibly happen now, I still have a bottle of scotch I haven't opened.

Just getting to the end of another video game. One I've played before but still enjoyable. Still got 5 other games on the go at the same time. What can I say, I like variety. Also helps when there are only re-runs on TV.

Hope the weekend is good for you.

We might get a few drops over the weekend. Even had a warm fog the other morning. Been warm overnight lately so the ocean temp is heating up again and the whales calling in past the beach.
Finished early in Singapore so am just sitting by the pool before I haul my arse to the airport for a flight home.

Oh - you were there too! We got home on Monday.

So....I had a date! He was nice! And we plan to see each other again! He lied about his height (he's not much taller than me...and I'm 160cm) and age (but he's still only 3 years older than me, so I'm okay with that).
I also had to block a guy who was Facebook stalking me. Hopefully that is the end of that!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend.
:rose:

The office crew have worked hard so with a nice 29 deg blue sky day forecast for tomorrow I have decided to give them all a beach day off. We had a breakfast meeting at a beach cafe this morning, and given it is thunderstorms and wet weather for the rest of the week, we will do the same tomorrow and then they are expected to hit the beach and think creative strategies by themselves for the rest of the day.

Fortunately we have pretty confident and considerate people so I don't have to worry about people not wanting to be seen on a beach or stressing about it, as is a mob down the other end of the Terrace who's similar good idea is now a HR issue.

Good news on the dating.
Lying about height is a little silly. That's absolutely going to be found out. Haha.
I'm tall so that's never an issue.
Good to hear it went well though.

Our US friends would all say we are rooting for you vicariously, but as Aussies that might be taking the support crew act just a little far.

Afternoon all,

Wet days timetable here in Melbourne town for most of the week but should be clearing up by Friday which is good cause that's when I have to go across town. A rather annoying activity these days with all the stuff happening in the city.

Apparently driving thru Melbourne city is now one of the slowest trips. Didn't need a survey to tell them that just ask someone. As it stands we can only do 40km thru the major streets of the CBD which slows everything down, plus the infinite amount of road works, now they want to also build a tunnel off the Westgate. Which for those not from Melbourne, is a bypass to the western suburbs across the cargo port. Good if you want to go to Williamstown or Geelong from the eastern side.

So our Senate was a clusterfuck. Oh but that's ok cause they apologised. So racism is cool provided you apologise, with that classic line..."If you were offended...". We pay these people so they can vote on stuff they don't know about or claim ignorance of. The next election can't come soon enough...not that I'm a fan of constantly voting. We have our state election late next month.

The younger royals are in the country and another royal baby on the way so that should keep the republican thing out of the news for a while yet. Apparently the offspring from Eugene can't be called a prince or princess cause she is too far down the pecking order. You'd feel ripped off. Your cousin call be called a prince or princess but not you. Awkward Christmas lunch.

So Adelaide is officially a regional city, Chris Pyne must not be happy. Then again they do complain about jobs not going to regional centres, now we're building Submarines in them. Win Win! Although if they start building ships in Alice Springs, they might have a transport issue. Then again they could get better infrastructure. Waiting for the Nat's to suggest that one.

Hope the rest of the week is good for you.

Yay, direct flights between Perth and Nairobi, Perth and Addis Ababa on the cards. I can start getting my coffee airfreighted in fresh!! Just picked fresh roasted coffee in Nairobi airport at 5000' is something to make transit there worthwhile.

I was sitting in a certain iron ore company's office today and there were a bunch of crazy guys over the road in Langley Park who had stripped off in the rain and were running and sliding through puddles on the grass. Now they were 4 storeys down and a road in between, but there were a couple of noticeable gents that weren't too hard on the eye. Lovely entertainment.

That sounds like so much fun! Watching wouldn't be too bad, either. :D
Not to sound stalkerish but I think we live and work pretty close to each other...admittedly we're both in Perth. So we probably have relatives in common or something.

I've taken it upon myself to work from home today. I haven't spoken properly with my new boss about it, but hopefully haven't been told no....so....anyway. I do half-day Friday, so getting into the city, parking and back again chews into my day for only 4 hours work. Big companies have lots of online corporate training...it's much more comfortable sitting at home doing it than doing it in the office anyway.

I can't remember if I mentioned that I went back on Roaccutane after I my final IVF cycle a month ago? My skin is fucking amazing. It's been 3 weeks and I look like an angel (with some acne scaring, but pfft, whatever.) Anyway, as Roaccutane is high dose Vitamin A, it causes birth defects, so they like you to be on the Pill or have an IUD. I have a bicornate uterus, so can't have an IUD. Which leaves me with the Pill. Plus I also want cycle control (AKA less or no periods). Periods suck, honestly. Literal pain in the vagina. So I go back to the neurologist Wednesday about my migraines (Pill has made migraines worse slightly) and he says there is higher risk of stroke with me being on the pill (due to migraine history) bla bla bla, but stay on it for now with the Roaccutane, just in case I randomly have unsafe sex. And then I go back to the GP and whinge about being tired (I've just had bloods to get my iron and thyroid tested) and he starts talking about a hysterectomy. After all, my biological mother had uterine cancer and hysterectomy at 45, my periods are always long and heavy and I get bad cramping, and I'm finished having babies. So then, obviously if I had that done I wouldn't need to be on the pill...and would have less headaches....

I feel like my head is in a little spin at the moment. Okay, no more babies for me. I will get over that at some point. But I wanted to have a bit of a sex life again before having any more surgical procedures down there! I'm going to have to do lots of Googling about sex after hysterectomy...

Oh and I have date tonight with the short guy again!

Happy Friday everyone!

Watching was fun, never shy to look. Joining in might have been fun in warmer rain, I was about an inch out off my chest in the cold weather as it was, so would have dug some lines in the grass if I went sliding like them. They might have got a rise out of it.
Quite likely we might have passed by each other around the traps. The pervy one down the road who talks shit, skinny dips and isn't demure about things. Hang on, thats half of this end of town. Come around for a BBQ.
Go and get your pipes well and truly basted before you start chopping things up. Sounds like you need a horny summer under your belt first! You've earned it.

Pipes blasted sounds an ideal prescription.
Being that blaster might not be a bad way to spend time. Haha

Happy weekend everyone. Mine is not going well. Cold rainy day & the ducted heater has decided it works better if the entire heater catches fire sending smoke through the vents. Excellent!!!! Replacement is 7 grand.
I have a party tomorrow here & the weather is going to be shite grrr

On another note it is the weekend though & the people coming to the party are good fun so fingers crossed a few drinks & party games & all will enjoy.

Hope everyone is habing a great one.
