Elizabeth Warren proves her ancestry; embarrasses shit out of Trump & Trumpsters

BTW, the preferred spelling is "Pocahontas," not "Pocohontas." (Of course there is no correct spelling in her native language -- it was an illiterate culture; but "Pocahontas" is how John Smith spelled it.)

Hell, let's just translate it into English. "Go sit down, you little shit, dad is trying to work."

That's probably easier for everyone to spell.

Edit: Her name wasn't Pocahontas. Pocahontas means, "Annoying kid" or "Naughty child". Which is part of the real reason I thought people used it as a racist insult. Her name was Matty- Matoaka, which itself was a nickname derived from her real name, Amonute.

When you call someone "Pocahontas", you're calling them a child.

Edit: Also, the Powhatan weren't illiterate, you racist fuck. Goddamn. They had a written code of laws that WE borrowed terms from. Jesus Christ.

I'm not reading through this whole thing, but an article I read today had her at best 1/64 Native American. I saw another number that was like 1/1024 meaning as Native American as about anyone else born in this country.

If that number is embarrassing it should be to her. Not as embarrassing as Harvard referring to her as a 'person of color' but pretty close.

Democrats need to pick and fight a real battle, not keep buying in to Trumps grade school antics.

Maths is hard
The DNA report specifically said "5 to 10 generations back"
First generation = 1/2
Second generation = 1/4
Third generation = 1/8
Fourth generation = 1/16
Fifth generation = 1/32
...
Tenth generation = 1/1024

So Warren has between 1/32 and 1/1024 Native American ancestry.
Warren has claimed to have SOME Native American ancestry.
She has now presented the data to back up her claim.
We're simply debating the definition of "some" at this point....
And pointing and laughing at NotAJ, who has squealed since 2012 that Warren had NO Native American ancestry.

Has anyone brought up the idea that the person who joined her family tree might have been only 1/2, 1/4 or 1/8 native? Historically, such a person would still be considered entirely Native American.

The chief of the Cherokee nation has released a statement saying Warren has damaged the interests of the Cherokee Nation by claiming to be of native American blood. Boston Globe just made their third correction of the day on the percentage. It is now .00976%.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I never heard before of a literate pre-Columbian culture north of Mexico. (Picture-blankets aren't really writing.)

Even more worthless, condescending mansplaining and then posing to give me permission, to "go right on trying to...." :D You're hilarious. How many women have you assaulted throughout your male chauvinist life?

I'm, but since you insist on using insults and refuse to engage in a rational conversation, sorry but you need to join bb and Bb on my ignore list.. Bye bye.

Comshaw

Men who assault women are definitely the biggest pussies.

I want to slap you more than the republicans right now. Think about that.

Wait- YOU DON'T THINK WE COULD WRITE EITHER!?

Is that why yhall didn't leave? You saw the signs we put up and thought they were just squiggles?

"Correction: Due to a math error, a story about Elizabeth Warren misstated the ancestry percentage of a potential 6th to 10th generation relative. The generational range based on the ancestor that the report identified suggests she’s between 1/64th and 1/1,024th Native American."

Your mathmatics comes up with .00976%.

If we apply reading comprehension skills along with mathematics, its between .015625 (1.5625%) and .00097665625 (0.097665625%)

Edited to add: Your misquoted chief is only .03125000000 (3.125%) Cherokee

:)

Still at it?

Are you folks still quibbling about precise degree of native ancestry? Christ, if we spent this much time on every loosely-made claim by the Stable Genius, no one would ever sleep.

By the way, Boxlicker did some research and determined it is "not likely" that Warren was a Navaho code talker/breaker during the Viet Nam war of the 1960s. At least that raging controversy has been resolved.

Rory sure has a knack for stirring the pot, so back to work, folks.

You got the math wrong. 1/1,024 is .0977%.

Better take that class on significant figures with Que.

he is right, though. they didn't have a written language. neither did the cherokee. they eventually came up with one after european contact, but they didn't have one before that.

I'm not saying that you're wrong, but there is no chief of the Cherokee nation. There's a Principal Chief, who is the "leader" of the tribal council, but he doesn't issue press conferences, and he isn't like... what you would have in your head as an "Indian Chief". There actually is a Secretary of State who would do that.

Edit: I got curious about this, so I looked it up, and Chuck Hoskin Jr, the Secretary of State for the WBCN, DID issue such a press release. So... you were right in the most racist way you could be.

Oh- and look what he said.

Turns out, I was right about the DNA tests.

"A DNA test is useless to determine tribal citizenship. Current DNA tests do not even distinguish whether a person’s ancestors were indigenous to North or South America."

Look at that shit.

Not having a syllabry is not the same thing as not having a written language. People still had to keep track of shit. Like I'll give you that it isn't what we would consider a complete "language"- but it's hard to write a language where pitch is so important. So yeah, there weren't books and shit, but there was a symbology so you could put up things like signs and people could understand them.

I know there is a Cherokee alphabet, but it was invented in the 19th Century and inspired by the palefaces' writing.

That is no more writing than a roundheaded stick-figure on a street sign or a restroom door is writing.

Oh my, look at the cute little right-wingers scurry around in a frenzy of defensiveness.

Good trigger, Rory!

Alt appreciation posts, Rory?

You're Rob's perfect "Mini-Me."

I wanna be pissed about this- because I think we can all agree it's racist- but like, also...

Goddamn it, I think you got me. It is just more complex bathroom doors. I'm not technically allowed to say that you got me, though, so if anyone asks, I am ENRAGED.

No, it's just history. Is it racist to say the sub-Saharan Africans, other than the Ethiopians, never invented writing? Or that those who converted to Islam and learned to write Arabic never seem to have thought of using the script to write their native languages? Those are facts -- and I've always wondered why.
