This Kavanaugh debacle has shown the true despickable nature of Democrats, how they are willing to break everything for a win. This will galvanize us in the midterms and we will surely show 'em. #walkaway

The left:
This Kavanaugh debacle has shown the true despickable nature of Republicans, how they are willing to break everything for a win. This will galvanize us in the midterms and we will surely show 'em. #bluewave

Alrighty then.

Now that Judge Kavanaugh has been appointed I hope that he acts as the impartial judge his previous judicial career implies - deciding on the issues according to the laws of the USA, and not the politics.

There's no k in "despicable."

I wonder if the same would have happened with a more moderate candidate--someone who'd voice the thoughts of the average Americans.

That is not a judge's job. What a judge has to do is much, much more complicated than that.

'What Goes Around, Comes Around': Kavanaugh's Snarl Takes on New Meaning Now That He's a U.S. Supreme Court Justice

"So no matter how genteelly he forces himself to behave in the future," warns Naomi Klein, "remember that the snarl was the truth - not just about his character but about his true purpose on the bench.

October 7, 2018

Ashley Feinberg was among those who returned to his (Kavanaugh's) charged testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday, September 27 when she declared Saturday afternoon: "I just keep thinking about [his] sneering 'what goes around comes around.'"

Naomi Klein posited that it is more important than ever to understand that moment and recognize the profound ramifications it will have going forward now that Justice Kavanaugh is a reality.

Feinberg's colleague at the Huffington Post, Paul Blumenthal, points out—in a piece titled, "The Coming Kavanaugh Court Doctrine: Democrats Are Unconstitutional"—the threat of "what goes around comes around" could have serious implications for "cases that help Republicans and harm Democrats" in the future.

"Essentially what he did is he took his mask off and he revealed himself as a politician who wears a robe," Jessica Levin.

gsgs comment- Naomi Klein reminds us that the scorn, the sadistic cruelty, expressed by the mocking laughter, that was directed at Dr. Christine Ford, by her two abductors, remains with her, engraved in the tissues of her hippocampus. New pain was delivered to Dr. Ford, as the Republican senators congratulated each other, on a theatre piece, well coordinated and performed, during the interrogation of the lone woman, and their defense of the Golden Republican Boy. I only hope, that the door of the Republican cloakroom was not nearby. More laughter, that contained ridicule for her attempt to thwart their evil, and expressions of their joy, that the execution of their convoluted plans were effective.

Now, women share Dr. Ford's pain, and women that witnessed Kavanaugh's snarl, have the sight of that snarl engraved on their own hippocampus. Women were included in the threat, that Kavanaugh made.

Democrat women and their alliance, opposed Kavanaugh's will, and they sought to deprive him of his great prize.

October 7, 2018 Columbus Day Weekend

A Foreboding, that Native Americans will lose their Democracy

At the time of Columbus’ arrival in 1492, there were five Taíno chiefdoms and territories on Hispaniola, each led by a principal Cacique (chieftain), to whom tribute was paid. Ayiti (“land of high mountains”) was the indigenous Taíno name for the mountainous side of the island of Hispaniola, which has retained its name as Haïti in French.

Columbus and his crew, landing on an island in the Bahamas on October 12, 1492, were the first Europeans to encounter the Taíno people. Columbus described the Taínos as a physically tall, well-proportioned people, with a noble and kind personality.

Beer with Brett Kavanaugh Weekend

Republican men, and Trump supporters celebrate, and express a grotesque happiness at the defeat of Democrats and their alliance. An ugly Republican laugh, accompanying many ugly acts, after a man took an oath and told ugly lies, and contorted his face into ugly expressions.

Kavanaugh has tried to present his partisan rage-storm as out of character, the result of being a “son, husband and dad” falsely accused. In the coming months, we can expect him to take great pains to perform a more reassuring judge-like character.

But we must never be fooled. Because that snarl was a wide open window into what this fight has always been about. Kavanaugh is being appointed not *in spite* of that snarl but precisely because of it.

Because underneath his "gee-whiz I-love-coaching-girl’s-basketball" kitsch, he is a snarling gargoyle who can be counted on not just to defend himself but the whole damn frat known as the Republican Party + its billionaire backers. Against all threats to their power + wealth.

That’s what he showed as Ken Starr’s attack dog and that’s what he showed as George W Bush’s guard dog – even though it meant changing his legal position 180 degrees from one administration to the next.

It is the combination of viciousness and total moral flexibility that is what had endeared him to the men behind his nomination and imminent confirmation. He has shown he will do whatever it takes to protect them. That's why he was worth backing despite his copious baggage.

'What Goes Around, Comes Around': Kavanaugh's Snarl Takes on New Meaning Now That He's a U.S. Supreme Court Justice.

He might have been a shill in the past, but bear in mind that he is now set for life and beholden to nobody. His opinions will be whatever he alone wants them to be.

Now that Judge Kavanaugh has been appointed I hope that he acts as the impartial judge his previous judicial career implies - deciding on the issues according to the laws of the USA, and not the politics.

I would not count on Kavanaugh to be impartial based on his previous career. He showed his true colors in the Appeals Court when the Jane Doe case of 2017 came before the court. Thank God the Appeals Court consisted of a panel of judges instead of just Kavanaugh because the 17 year old illegal alien girl would have had to carry her baby to full term rather than obtain a legal abortion. Kavanaugh is an antiabortionist.

Kavanaugh is beholden to Trump. Now Trump owns him so Trump will never be impeached or indicted by any federal court.

Which side took pride in being called deplorable?

This was something like "Yankee Doodle" which was a term of disparagement by the royal forces and became a point of pride. Or like Kaiser Wilhelm describing the British Force in WW1 as a "contemptible little army" which galvanized the British. When Hilly referred to "A Basket of deplorables," the people she meant took the same kind of pride.

And if he wants them to be petty and vengeful, as he indicated in the hearing?

That's fundamental Kavanaugh, yes. That's why Collins is an idiot for her claim that he promised her he wouldn't touch Roe vs. Wade. She's either dumb as a fence post or she's been two-faced this whole time and is a party hack, using her support base falsely. I'll go with the latter.

Then they will be. What you see is what you get. It's the same with Trump -- we can't honestly claim to be surprised by his outrages, we all saw what he is on the campaign trail and he hasn't changed since, nor could we expect a man his age to change.

It appears that you have not read very much about his previous judicial career, including his recently published views on Presidential power and his recent decision on an immigrant's right to have access to an abortion.

Nor his stonewalling, slowdown behavior in the Garzan v Hargan case, where he tried to push an illegal alien's pregnancy past when she could safely have the abortion that she quite clearly was legally due and that the administration was denying her and hiding her away by shuffling her around until help could find her. Kavanaugh clearly aided the administration in this inhumane and clearly illegal maneuver specifically to get attention as a Supreme Court nominee. The man is garbage.
