Trump Admin: Global Warming Ends Civilization by 2100, might as well end regulations

In a report last month, the Trump Administration justified repealing fuel efficiency standards because human-caused global warming will catastrophically raise global temperatures by 2100, but regulation of US emissions alone would be insufficient to stop it, so we’re not going to penalize the US because the world can’t get its act together on climate change for reasons which currently escape us. And, hey, beachfront Nevada property will be great for the hotel industry.

Source of sarcasm: the failing Chicago Tribune.

Once again you people have NO FUCKING CLUE what you're talking about.
For example, I was sorting through some old CDs last week when I spotted a Barbara Streisand the wife bought in 1989 and probably played once. Out of curiosity I checked the liner notes, mostly to see if the old bimbo was showing any cleavage.
Nope, but she was full of dire warnings even back then. This message was on the last page of the liner notes:
WE ONLY HAVE TEN YEARS TO SAVE OUR PLANET.
As previously noted, this was 1989, so you can see all of the hard work has already been done. We're safe. Go ahead and have fun. Turn down the thermostat in the summer. Turn it up and stay warm in the winter. Drive fast and peel out often. We made it to 1999 without a problem and the Earth is still here.

1989 was the year that ozone-depleting chemicals were banned, which began the ongoing reversal of serious ozone depletion worldwide.

We made it to 1999, but we definitely had a problem.

It's no worse than the con artist claiming climate change is fake, then telling the Irish he needs to build a sea wall to protect his failing Irish golf course from rising sea levels due to climate change.

“If the predictions of an increase in sea level rise as a result of global warming prove correct, however, it is likely that there will be a corresponding increase in coastal erosion rates not just in Doughmore Bay but around much of the coastline of Ireland. In our view, it could reasonably be expected that the rate of sea level rise might become twice of that presently occurring. … As a result, we would expect the rate of dune recession to increase.”

And yes, the Irish approved the request because they understand the science of climate change.

*groan*

This shit is painful. We are diminishing "carbon" emissions whereas the majority of the countries that vowed to diminish them are increasing them.

CO2 is good for us. It's production just may be staving off another ice age...

Oaky Bill Nye, the stage is set for you to regale us with your high-school understanding of all things Glow Ball Warning. Why don't you lead with hurricanes again?

Fucking brilliant Bill...

And you know this how, exactly?

Chaotic dynamical system blahblahblah sensitivity to initial conditions blahblahblah attractor space blahblahblah.

Wow, so you’re saying the liner notes from a torch song album makes you disbelieve a report issued by the Trump Administration?

That the Trump Administration has no fucking clue what it’s talking about?

You know, it’s one thing argue that manmade Climate Change is not a significant enough threat to impose governmental restrictions on the marketplace. That’s at rational argument subject to proof or disproof.

But...you just said cigarette smoke is a curative for your T-Zone.

I didn’t know I could think of your opinions any lower than I already did.

Did you even open the link to the Trump Administration report?

Ah, yes, steps 10, 12 and 13 on the denialist staircase:

10. Global warming is happening, it is caused by humanity, it is a bad thing, but China and India aren't doing anything — so we don’t have to change anything.[42]

* * *

12.Global warming is happening, it is caused by humanity, it is a bad thing, but even if China and India do something it’s too late for us to do anything and it would cost us a shitload of dough — so we don’t have to change anything.

13. Global warming was happening, it was caused by humanity, it is a very bad thing and previous governments could and should have done something, but it's too late now![43]

We made it to 1999 without a problem and the Earth is still here.

Well, not exactly "without a problem." The Earth is now warmer, and in consequence the storms are more destructive, the droughts more threatening.
