I've seen some people asking this question: why is Kavanaugh seemingly so obsessed with promoting this image of himself as having been some sort of saintly figure as a teenager/young man, when there's so much evidence that he was your basic prep school asshole? It's not as if it would be political death for him if he said, "Look, I was a jerk as a kid, probably didn't show enough respect to girls, definitely had an issue with binge drinking, but I'm a changed man and my professional career proves it." It's not like most people would find that disqualifying. Hell, George W. Bush built a career on that narrative.

People have said, "OK, he might have done some naughty things in his youth, but he outgrew all that." Thing is though, he's not admitting to any of it, let alone apologizing for it. He's not even admitting to obvious stuff like the slut-shaming of the girl in the yearbook, or that he drank a lot back in the day, something even his old friends suggest was his most notable personality trait.

You can say that his character as a teenager isn't relevant to his fitness for being on the Court now, but his honesty today is obviously highly relevant.

No, instead he claims he was a virgin and lies about the drinking age in MD at the time. That’s disturbing. He can’t even admit to underage drinking and blatantly lies about something that is so easily proven to be a falsehood.

Back to the basics. Why the big fucking rush? Give professional investigators some extra time to clear this guy, or to find solid evidence of the women’s claims. Don’t you want to know if he’s lying? Or telling the absolute truth? This will be a tainted Justice if he is rammed through by McConnell. Forget the blue wave, a pink wave will punish the shit out of the GOP.
