Not to pile on simply because I've always found him irritating, but I was already considering wading in to his bullshit because his statements look exactly like those that were frequently spouted by those who we know very publicly that they are personally abusive to women.

Just because one ticks off all the right "pro-women" boxes with public statements agreeing with women politically says nothing at all about the level of respect that you treat women in private.

Similarly, 1000 women could come out and say that Kavenaugh never abused them personally and it's not the least bit exculpatory as to whether he did or did not in one particular instance. It is rare to the point of unheard of for abusers to have not a whisper of others being abused. It tends to be a pattern.

However, on the subject of whether he treats the women that he is personally and professionally involved with respect we have ample testimony. Not just the volume of women who have come forward and say so, they are quite specific about the ways in which he has been respectful and helpful to women.

I don't know of any women who similarly praise the sanctimonious poster who brags about "getting the wimmins."

She went to her congressional district representative, which is the natural place to start under the circumstances. (And this answers why she didn't go to Feinstein first. She could have, but that's not more logical to do with an issue that has political significance.) Her congressional representative is a woman and from the party most likely to give Ford what she wants--and going the political rather than the police route goes directly to the significance of the issue and what Ford wants out of it. There isn't anyone who's claiming this isn't being done for political reasons.

What a half-assed campaign of deflection you people are doing. She went to a Democratic politician (her own congressional representative) because the point is to stop the guy becoming a Supreme Court justice. She isn't taking him to court on the attempted rape charge; she just wants him not to become a Supreme Court justice, which is common cause with the congresswoman she contacted in the first place.

And the Repugs are being stupid in their response. The only significance of it being Kavanaugh is that he's the closest one to being willing to cover Trump's ass. They have qualified conservative candidates for the Supreme Court job in depth and if they had any brains they would be reining Trump in, not catering to him. They even have a more acceptable backup in place than Trump for the presidency. They're just being stubborn old farts.

Whatever happens in the Kavanaugh case, the powerholders in Congress are showing themselves as stubborn old farts from a time far, far away. Dragging this on only helps the Democrats in November. It also gives more time for the 93 percent of the background files on Kavanaugh to shake loose, which it seems obvious to me, is what the Repugs are scared stiff in having leaked.

The Dems have already filed on removing Kavanaugh on the basis of the shown lies in his congressional testimony, Holding on to him is only stupidity by the stubborn old fart Repugs in Congress. They should have let an investigation roll, which probably wouldn't have been conclusive and then either vote Kavanaugh in or let him loose and gone on to the next one, which would have helped bring Trump to heel in the process.
