NFL Players kneeling for the anthem

I'm just saying, black folks come in various skin colors, you are thinking way too deep about this.

I wish would could end the skin color hate game, but it is a bitter reality in America. When folks on the darker end of the color spectrum stop getting racially profiled, discriminated in employment, and penalized unfairly in the justice system, then we can overcome.

Personally, I believe statistics based on skin-color are erroneous. Skin color statistics are used to divide people.

"Lies, damn lies, and statistics" ~MarkTwain (3 kinds of lies)

If we all woke up tomorrow exactly the same skin color, would there be any less hate in the world?

I agree with the reasons I've heard from some NFL players who kneel but it's about more than than social justice for me. It's about having the freedom to live in the country of my birth and not be forced by law or social mores to participate in a religious or political ceremony. If players choose to kneel, no one is hurt except for the feelings of right wing snowflakes.

Also, it's not as if time stops and everyone in the stadium snaps to attention. For most of you it's about making those black men comply.

..and the NFL whose losing big time money and support.

So, your are obviously fine with someone like Rob using quotes around sentences indicating that someone else made an outrageous or racist remark when they didn't.

As for your suggestion that there is some "tresonous connection/subservience" when there has yet to be any evidence proving such, you obviously are suffering from TDS. You should have that looked at.

You're (you're, you're :D) being guilty of your own objection. I'm fine with analyzing a person's post history to discern what their prejudices and agenda are. Don't read something into what I posted that I didn't post.

And, yes, I think you are swimming in a sea of relevant evidence that you like to ignore.

It's been reported that Donald Trump Jr. says top government officials ought to be paid better than NFL players, and the President should be getting at least 200 million a year.

No, not really. But it sounded true, didn't it?

Yeah, because it sounds exactly like something Don Jr. would believe and tweet.

Exactly. Righties and "conservatives" don't give a flying crap about "the flag" and "patriotism." They're irritated that the Negros aren't staying in their place, period.

"Respect the flag" = "Shut up and dribble."

Any protest that doesnt involve armed white men taking over government buildings is unamerican to the trumpers and totally not republicans in this thread. A peaceful protest by people of colour? How fucking dare they!

The players kneeling don't affect the game and it doesn't change my consuming as much football as possible because I'm not a delicate snowflake about an inanimate object.

Not to mention sending his hot young thang of a daughter to meet privately with that murderous dictator for ... umm ... diplomacy ... yeah, that's it.

I haven't watched an NFL game in years and quit watching way before kneeling for the anthem became an issue. Would much rather watch local college football. I say if they want to kneel, let them. The whole thing of playing the national anthem before sporting events is a modern contrivance anyway. They should start playing it before every marathon, tennis match and ski race, too. And curling too, but just God Save the Queen (or Scotland the Brave). And yes, I actually sing all the words while standing with hand over heart and hat off head - but I think making it a political issue demeans it.

They do play it before marathons.

They play it (and often someone sings it) at the beginning of every play day of ATP tennis tournaments in the United States. They have multiple matches going on at one time up until the semifinals. It's a silly proposition to be having the national anthem popping up every thirty minutes across the tennis grounds for a week or more.

Browns looked pretty good last night.

Sam Darnold looked really good today.

Not what this thread is about? Tough nookies.

Nobody has said it yet (that I know of), kneeling is an act of submission. Not of defiance, strength or confidence.

So, there.

This is such an easy problem to solve.

STOP PLAYING THE ANTHEM

The anthem gets played WAY too much, especially at sporting events.

Bunch of robots chanting some old song with your hands over your hearts. Creepy.

I know this has been hashed quite a bit here but with pre season starting, I just had a few thoughts on this. I am a veteran, I stand for the anthem because I believe I live in the greatest nation on earth, otherwise I'd just move instead of protesting it. Sure it has it's faults, I don't care for some of the leadership and I think it can always be improved if we all respect each others values and beliefs of our country and leadership. That being said...

Where are these players after the game or during the off season? Why aren't they out trying to improve the situation that they are protesting during the anthem? Is it just a, "look at me, I am kneeling to cause a division during the anthem but now that it's over, I have a great life that this country affords me to get back to." Personally, I don't care if a player takes a knee or not, I think they are showing their ignorance by doing so especially if they don't take the cause further. Also, why are they protesting the anthem when this country has given them so much?

There are so many other ways to protest than kneeling for the anthem, and it would be nice to see these players actually take part in the solution to help with what they are protesting for.
