We all know that geeks are always lusting after the cheerleaders in school. But here's the question from the opposite side:

you cheerleader type girls, did you ever hook up with geeks, or give one a date? Yes, there are the revenge of the nerds movies, but did anyone here ever find that in real life? A cheerleader who actually found she preferred the nerds to the jocks?

As an old geek, I know nothing of this. I lusted after smart bookish girls. I always found shallowness to be the opposite of sexy.

When I was in school, the cheerleaders were at the absolute top of the social order, and as such, all were going steady.

I don't know the definition of geek. I was definitely the intellectual type, but was also athletic, and hated following the crowd. In a school that worshiped football and were state champs in basketball and baseball, I played soccer and studied judo. One co-captain of the cheerleading squad (also the prettiest girl in the school) was—of course—attached, but she flirted with me all the time. I think she would have gone behind his back if I'd given it a try. I learned later on that I was seen as sort of "dangerous," and a forbidden fruit. Ah, the dramas of high school.

Both she and her co-captain were—of course— sweethearts with the co-captains of the football and basketball teams, and the last I heard they were still married to those same sweethearts. 50 years later. It's some sort of 1950s movie set down there, following all the old rules and forever unchanging.

I was a cheerleader for like a month during my freshman year. I hated it, so I quit. I didn't date jocks or geeks in HS though... I dated college dudes which were a lot more fun

You're quite right. Stereotypes— probably foisted on us by movies as much as life experience. In my comment below, the captains of the football and basketball teams were very decent guys. And the girl I referred to was anything but a bitch.
