"LONDON (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - India is the world’s most dangerous country for women due to the high risk of sexual violence and being forced into slave labor, according to a poll of global experts released on Tuesday.

War-torn Afghanistan and Syria ranked second and third in the Thomson Reuters Foundation survey of about 550 experts on women’s issues, followed by Somalia and Saudi Arabia.

The only Western nation in the top 10 was the United States, which ranked joint third when respondents were asked where women were most at risk of sexual violence, harassment and being coerced into sex.
"

In the middle were Somalia and Saudi Arabia.

"Rounding out the top 10 most dangerous countries for women were Pakistan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Yemen and Nigeria. "

The question, is there anyone here stupid enough to believe the U.S. is third for violence against women?

"These tables are stupid crap", to paraphrase Ish:

But for the US, those countries are closed societies and/or paternalistic ones in which people are either afraid to express their views, or women have a different perception of what violence entails.

You can't possibly put them on the same list with countries where women bare their breasts or wear pink hats to protest against their men.

Sexual assault is a factor, America is a rapist breeding ground.

And comparing it to Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Somalia and the Congo where women are the property of men, regularly mutilated and honor killings are not just legal but fairly common is just laughable.

When we start openly stoning/beheading women in the streets for getting lippy with a man, then the comparison might not be so absurd.

Till then comparing the two just highlights how fucking clueless the morons who make the comparison are.

In Saudi Arabia, if I'm not mistaken:
In order for the woman's claim to be taken into consideration and for her to even be examined after an alleged rape,
the rape had to be witnessed by at least another man.

In Pakistan they still do honor killings.

It's funny in a sense that they think that the US is less safer for women, than Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Those experts must be Leftists,

I think the problem is they are including sexual harassment in the US. If I own a service station and I have a calendar on the wall and the calendar features a scantily clad woman, that would be called sexual harassment. And it would be equated, in this study, with rape, even though there is not even the hint of violence.

Rape and sexual assault happen all the time, every day in the good old us of a. It has nothing to do with your Muslim hatred or barbaric acts committed in other shithole countries on the list. It just means you guys rape more than they stone.

You've occupied the rear end of a lot of people's shorts as well. You've left your dubious mark on American society.

You are one angry fellow, aren't ya?

Difficult as well, always needing to prove how "right" you are, a little humbling is good for you and that massive yet fragile ego.

It is what it is, sexual assault and violence against women is a problem in the United States.

Sure there are fewer honor killings or beheadings, mechanisms differ but it's real.

The United States is also ranked remarkably high for a developed nation regarding terrible infant mortality rates.

Unlike you rightists who see America as peaches and cream, the list shows that there are problems to fix. Calling for the nation to be repaired does not mean that you hate your country.

And it's nowhere near the scale or intensity found in every other country on that list.

The comparison is a fucking joke.

All of which proves that statistics can be manipulated to 'prove' almost anything.

In India, many of the crimes reported as sexual in the US would not get as far as being registered a complaint because the women know the report of US-defined 'harassment' would be ignored. In parts of India women can be afraid of reporting even violent rape because the police might believe the rapist (or might be the rapists!).

The 'report' is comparing apples, pears and bricks and trying to make conclusions from data that is collected and recorded differently.
