Infamous Internment Camps 2018

The Navy outlined that the first facility could be built in 60 days and hold up to 5,000 immigrants. After the first facility was erected, the military estimated it could build additions to hold 10,000 additional migrants a month.

The memo was leaked just two days after President Donald Trump signed an executive order halting family separations at the border. The action also called on the Department of Defense (DOD) to work with the Department of Homeland Security on the issue of immigration.

The Secretary of Defense shall take all legally available measures to provide to the Secretary, upon request, any existing facilities available for the housing and care of alien families, and shall construct such facilities if necessary and consistent with law,” the order stated.

Mexican authorities appear to have joined in Trump’s immigration crackdown by blocking non-Mexican migrants from seeking asylum in the United States

June 21, 2018

Eventually, she says, a CBP agent conferred with a Mexican immigration official on the bridge. According to Leiba, who requested a pseudonym out of concern for her family’s safety, the two officials agreed that the Mexican agent would take custody of Leiba and the two younger kids, 6 and 7 years old. Leiba says the three of them were then separated from her oldest son, 15, and taken to a government-run shelter in Reynosa that doesn’t allow detainees to leave.

Leiba says she had no idea where the rest of her family was during the week she spent in custody. Had they tried to cross the border on their own? If so, how would she reconnect with them? And what had happened to her oldest son? Only later did she learn that he had been placed in a separate government shelter for older kids. “I was crying day and night,” she told the Observer in an interview in Reynosa Wednesday. “In there, you can beg all you want, but it doesn’t help."

Ted Cruz was allowed to slither into the children's prisons, but Texas Democrats remain locked out.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, author of a bill intended to reverse the policy (languishing, despite 49 Democratic and independent sponsors), tweeted the commonplace refrain: "This isn't who we are." But she followed that declaration with a contradictory acknowledgement: "Separating children from their parents reminds us of the worst chapters in American history."

And that's the rub. A nation founded in genocide against the native population, made wealthy through centuries of slave labor (that is, when parents and children were freely sold, abused, and disposed of as chattel possessions), and quite familiar with internment camps as recently as World War II – cannot really claim historical innocence for its contemporary actions. Kidnapping children to enforce a fundamentally racist, anti-immigrant crusade might not be all of who we are, but it is undeniably part of who we are.

When we find ourselves declaring, "This is not who we are," we had better be fully aware of the considerable evidence to the contrary.

Texas GOP Goes Full Heel

The Republican Party of Texas established its party platform last weekend. It’s obviously nuts

The Republican Party of Texas convened in San Antonio last weekend for its annual convention to come up with a platform and legislative priorities for 2019

Texas GOP Platform

"...TXGOP opposes everything else, including daylight saving time (abolish!), gun laws, abortion (natch), and "all efforts to validate transgender identity." There are 331 platform "planks" in all; if you want to scan the horror, see it at link-

I find it strange that some people have phobias toward using the word "illegal" when writing about illegal aliens.

The process of granting refugee status needs to be clearer, cleaner and faster. We need immigrants. But even more, the U.S. needs to step up to shelter the victims of guns trafficked from here to drug cartels and human traffickers.

The process of granting refugee status needs to be clearer, cleaner and faster.

So should be the process of sending people who make illegal entry packing.

No reason we can't strap them down and air-drop them back into Guatemala just as soon as we detain a full C-5/C-130 load.

We need immigrants.

We do??

We can't even take care of the people we have.

But even more, the U.S. needs to step up to shelter the victims of guns trafficked from here to drug cartels and human traffickers.

The immigrants are the ones trafficking the guns, drugs and people.....I thought we needed that?

And then there are those who can't distinguish between "misdemeanor" and "felony" and pay any difference to the difference in how each should be treated.

You're one who can't--or won't. Right, Box?

Classic leftist shit.....they love and are very good at language play.

That's why they always refer to illegal immigrants as "undocumented citizens" it allows them to ignore that they immigrated illegally. You'll also see them conflate illegal and legal immigrants, especially when demonizing those who support having a border and immigration policy.

Not that they give even the slightest fuck....because they support open borders and no immigration control. Hell a majority probably support social programs that incentivize illegal immigration. Including giving them a say so in how the country is run.

That's because they are leftist and there is nothing more repugnant to the leftist than the USA and the core principals and ideals it was founded upon. So they do all they can to subvert and destroy it. They must bring down the evil capitalist....government force in the name of humanity, the greater good and progress!! is how they want to do it. Notice they don't call any of their beloved socialist state "nazis" for having borders or an immigration policy??? That's because they don't really care about immigrants, they just hate the USA.

The two are very much alike, and the commission of either can result in the incarceration of the person doing the committing. Felonies are usually defined as more serious crimes, but that's really just an opinion. In CA, the law book spells out what is a felony and what is a misdemeanor but that is subject to change. There used to be a felony referred to as "The infamous Crime Against Nature," and I would have referred to it as eating pussy or doing similar fun things. This law has now been repealed, but it used to be a felony, although I would never have thought of it as a serious crime.

At the same time, battery is a misdemeanor. I have always thought beating somebody up would be a crime more serious than eating a juicy pussy, even when the latter was a felony, but the law said different.

Of all the PC forms I have heard or read, "Undocumented citizen" might be the most inane.

Do you have a document that proves you are a citizen?

Do you think every citizen should be required to have documents?

Do you think it's acceptable for government officials to demand to see citizenship documents from everybody within 100 miles of a national border?

The two are very much alike, and the commission of either can result in the incarceration of the person doing the committing.

Nope. You don't get slammed right in jail for a misdemeanor. Of course if you need child hostages to aid your campaign to get your wall paid for, you pretend like misdemeanors and felonies are very much alike. There always will be dummies who will believe you.

This justification of "well they did a crime!" is so small minded and childish.
The overwhelming majority of migrants who cross the Mexican border are not Mexican economic immigrants (in fact most economic immigrants just overstay work visas, not cross the border, which is one of many reasons why a border wall is useless), they're refugees from countries like Guatamala and Honduras who are seeking asylum in the US because they have a legitimate fear of being brutalized or murdered by the enormously powerful drug cartels there who literally have roots in government so deep they functionally run the place.

That you republicans are defending the idea that it's ok to emotionally torture, prosecute and maybe even ultimately deport these people back to countries to face subjugation and murder because they jaywalked on an international scale is genuinely tribalistic and asinine. You're like people living in 300AD who thought Huns actually had trunk-like noses and communicated through barking.

But hold on; let's gear this toward the actual economic migrants in the US currently: They pay billions of $ in taxes to the US gov' in payroll taxes while receiving no access to an array of federal economic and healthcare support, commit crimes at a lower rate than US born citizens, and are a huge pillar holding up your country's economy. There is literally no reason to be so insanely tough on them just because they didn't arrive through legal means.

In CA,at least, a person who is apprehended while committing a misdemeanor is taken to jail and held until bail is set. He or she is not allowed to simply walk away with a ticket, although a person who is accused of an infraction may be allowed to do so. In this way, people accused of felonies or misdemeanors are treated the same, except the setting of bail for the former is usually done in a more formal manner and the bail is higher.

Do you actually believe drunk drivers, for instance, are allowed to get back into their cars and drive away?

Maybe? Hopefully.

What's tribalistic and asinine about having a nation?

Source, Box? You're not known for knowing what you're talking about.

That doesn't agree with this source, which says you normally get a ticket for a later court date for a misdemeanor and that you don't give up civic rights, which would include lawyering up immediately if you want that and due process, neither of which Trump's people are according these folks. In addition, any of these folks who ask for political asylum get a whole bunch of other rights via human rights conventions the United States has signed--and they aren't getting them.

http://www.governmentregistry.org/c...tate_misdemeanors/california_misdemeanor.html

Again, these are misdemeanors, not felonies and are, in fact, being applied as kidnappings.

We all know why they are doing this; they've admitted it. They want to deter brown people from trying to immigrate at all and Trump wants hostages to hold to get Congress to pay for a dead-on-arrival wall he told his deplorables Mexico was going to pay for. Both of these reasons are despicable.

You're talking about that thief in the UK who got murdered right?
You can have a nation without torturing innocent people and children.

Both your link and mine refer to bail. As you know, bail is a sum of money or other thing of value that is put up by an accused person or someone on behalf of an accused person to guarantee he or she will appear in court. If the accused party is well-established in the community and/or the charge is a minor one, he or she might be ROR. Otherwise, the accused will be held in confinement until the case is concluded or until bail is established and paid.

At no time in ether link did I see a flat statement to that effect, but there are references to being held in lieu of bail.

And, of course, both links say people can be sentenced to a year in jail if convicted of a misdemeanor.

Brown people are allowed into the country, but sometimes not as expeditiously as they should. In the last ten years, we have been joined by six such persons, two daughters of my wife and four grandchildren, who immigrated from the Philippines. Before that, three younger children of my wife immigrated and she became a US citizen. She had actually been an illegal alien until she married an American widower and became naturalized.

Can’t wait until they start coming down hard on gun owners for minor infractions.

Sure, pick one....we have people here who do the same shit.

Not long ago a couple hrs down the road a rapist fucked with the wrong young woman and got a mag full of 9mm JHP's cranked off into him.

The rapists friends and family built him a flower/candy/candle shrine and had a big woo woo wooo boo hoo over the loss of their beloved rapist, he was such a nice guy!!!

You can have a nation without torturing innocent people and children.

Detainment isn't torture.

Oh look.....Blue couldn't admit he just thinks the US should quit having any borders, so were just going to start making shit up instead.

Trump's big racist mouth tainted a court case

June 25, 2018

The lawsuit filed in March says the administration's decision was motivated by racism and leaves the immigrants' American-born children with an "impossible choice" of either leaving their country with their parents or staying without them.

The Trump administration on Monday lost its attempt to throw out a lawsuit challenging its decision to stop extending temporary legal status to immigrants from four countries

U.S. Judge Edward Chen ruled that courts have the authority to review the lawsuit seeking to reinstate temporary protected status for people from El Salvador, Haiti, Nicaragua and Sudan. The suit plausibly alleges President Donald Trump made statements that could be construed as evidence of racial bias and tainted the administration's decision-making process about the temporary protections, Chen also said.

On Monday, its operator said it may not keep operating after July 13, when its federal contract expires.

"The federal government will make a decision [later] about future needs,” said HHS spokesman Mark Weber.

As of Monday morning, the facility housed 326 minors, including 162 from Guatemala, 117 from Honduras, 40 from El Salvador, three from Mexico and four from countries simply classified as “other.”

The BCFS official said the operation is staffed by about 250 people, including translators, medical staff and counselors that help the children make calls to family members. He said it resembles a boot camp because it’s the easiest way to keep order.

The two Democrats also said that at least seven young women between the ages of 13 and 17 arrived Saturday morning at the facility, which opened about a week ago and now houses almost 300 minors.

In 2010, the county acquired around 140 acres of Lettunich's family farmland through eminent domain, paying the family around $1.4 million, to build a new port of entry between the United States and Mexico.

After years of delays, the port, which is run by US Customs and Border Protection, officially opened in February 2016. But the facility has been largely unused, apart from acting as a temporary processing center in late 2016.
