I stepped forward and asked the man, "What God condones genocide?"

The guy who fired up a home-made flame thrower, which drew the only identified firing of a gun by a alt-right militia honcho of a Maryland band, was convicted just a couple of weeks ago. The locals were up in arms about that. I argued in social media that he deserved to be convicted. The guy who shot the gun was easily convicted (on doing it within a certain distance of a school).


Incidentally, the city council and a couple of the individual members of the city council are being sued both for advocating tearing down the statues without checking the Virginia laws on that and for granting the permits to the alt-right thugs. A judge has just ruled that those suits can go forward.

I don't know what you're getting at on the failure to disperse charge against those "legally" there. Once the authorities commanded them to disperse, they no longer were legally there no matter what permits they had. A problem there was that the cops didn't give anyone a safe avenue to disperse.

Mea culpa. I did not realize this was from an earlier riot. Antifa should not have gotten away with it. This is one of the ways they emulate the KKK - wearing disguises while committing foul deeds. Perhaps in the future, the victims of the Antifa attacks should fight back by ripping off those costumes so the perps can be identified. Either that or kill them in self-defense.

I don't think outside forces should have come in at all, on either side, and have been active in discussions in town in saying that. If the alt-right thugs hadn't set up coming into a liberal university town to promote neo-Nazism and racism (which is exactly what they were doing) and didn't put out the word to come armed, it wouldn't have happened. So ultimately, that's where the blame for setting this off belongs. (Although I've been very vocal about the liberal city council screwing up and virtually challenging them to come in and then not being prepared to ensure the level of demonstration they had authorized.)
