If a submission is moved to a new category, does the story go to the top of that category as a new submission?

Thank you.

I don't think it does. I had one moved between categories a couple years ago and Laurel warned me that it would not be a new story. It got no advertising at all, but moving it stopped the abuse it got from being in the wrong category.

What actually happens might vary from case to case. All else you can do is check with Laurel.

Its not a new story.

Only way that happens is if you pull the story then republish at a later date.

All the meta-data stays as was (publish date, comments, scores etc...). The only change is the text content in the data file, nothing else. So if you want to change category, do it early and it might get a run in the new category front page (sorted by the original publishing date, though).
