The State of the Union speech was good—spirited, pointed, with a credible warmth for the heroes in the balcony, who were well chosen. They were beautiful human beings, and their stories were rousing—the cop and his wife who adopted the baby, the hardy North Korean defector who triumphantly waved his crutches, the mourning, dignified parents of the girls killed by MS-13. My beloved Cajun Navy.

The Democrats in the chamber were slumped, glowery. They had chosen to act out unbroken disdain so as to please the rising left of their party, which was watching and would review their faces. Some of them were poorly lit and seemed not resolute but Draculaic. The women of the party mostly dressed in black, because nothing says moral seriousness like coordinating your outfits.

Here it should be said of the rising left of the Democratic Party that they are numerous, committed, and have all the energy—it’s true. But they operate at a disadvantage they cannot see, and it is that they are loveless. The social justice warriors, the advancers of identity politics and gender politics, the young who’ve just discovered socialism—they run on rage.

Special counsel Robert Mueller will likely, before November, report his findings to the Justice Department, and you have to assume he is going to find something because special prosecutors exist to find something. When Mr. Mueller staffed up he hired Ahabs, and Ahabs exist to get the whale. You have to assume Mr. Trump will be harpooned, and the question is whether it’s a flesh wound or goes deeper. If it goes deep the Democrats may well win the House, in which case he will be impeached.

If today's memo release proves Mueller's investigation was initiated as result of false evidence, a fraud on the court, in order to frame Donald Trump, he'll be wrapping up a bit sooner.

Despite the claims from conservatives, the reality is that Obama did face this type of treatment during his presidency and worse.

Last year, I wrote an article about how “Obama’s presidency was marked by effigies of our first black president hanging from nooses across the country ... or being burned around the world.”

For example, there is currently a 54-minute video on YouTube entitled Nationwide Burning of Effigies and Images of President Hussein Obama, published by a group called Stand Up America Now.

The video opens with two effigies of Obama hanging from nooses with a fake gravestone in the background that reads “OBAMA DEAD,” as well as a church and an upside-down flag.

If it was tastefully done? How about crucifying him on a cross, and setting fire to it?

Come on, "I'm not a white supremacist." Yeah, right. If you side with the Nazis, the Klan, and the guy who preaches tolerance to the intollerant, than you obviously tolerate white supremacy over a black president. Stand over on the other side of the rally, so you can take selfies without getting them in the picture with him, and watch out for the tiki torches.

I just have to laugh whenever the Klan says "Witch Hunt." Guys who stole all of their rites, symbols, and even snappy attire from the fucking Inquisition saying "This is a witch hunt!"

Are you trying to justify the Trump incidents based on previous Obama incidents?

This was a mural or picture - presumably including flowing blood - of the decapitated president of the United States. Did you ever see a similar representation of Obama?

Hanging or burning a despised person in effigy is a common example of somebody exercising First Amendment rights. If you Google "Trump effigy" you will see or read about literally millions of such displays. I'm sure you could do the same for Obama or Reagan or Bush or either Clinton or most public figures. With some people, the motivation would be racism and with others it would be a disagreement with opinions or policies.

I have never had any involvement in such an activity, considering it to be a waste of time, which I would rather spend writing dirty stories.

It's a little late to be whining about that sort of treatment, snowflake. Obama supporters put up with that sort of thing for 8 years.

You're proud to be a trump voter, it's really nothing to be proud of.. and diminishes whatever opinion you may have to offer.....
