As I have gotten older (62 this year), my pubic hair has been advancing up my penis. Not sure how you ladies would feel about sucking a hairy cock, but I am trying to shave it down so my lovers have a smooth unit to work on. I have tried using beard trimmers, they work good for trimming the pubic hair but the penis skin is tooo soft and gets nicked (ouch). Regular face type shavers will not work on the long hair. Any suggestions out there?

Use a High quality multi blade razor.

Lots of body wash or shaving cream , do it in the shower.

Take it slow. Really no problem.

I use a nose hair trimmer that gets my pubic hair(s) quite short, works on long hairs also. Stand on a spread-out newspaper, keep track of what you are doing in the bathroom mirror. Use a hand-held mirror to check for close-up results. Have had no nicks or cuts.

Just pluck with tweezers. The initial time will be the worst, but followups won’t be bad at all, as long as you pluck it while it’s still in the growing phase. It won’t feel like sandpaper.
