So, a little while ago I submitted a little piece I'd written (2:00 AM), that was never meant to be a serious story (more like a fun writing experiment), and it has no erotic elements. So, I submitted it under Non-Erotic, but it got put into Erotic Couplings. I was like, "OK, I'm sure Laurel knows best," but... now I'm not so sure. Would some of you that are (way) more experienced than I am mind taking a look at it? Honestly, for I know of that category, it may actually fit better in it's current category.

Also, how would I even go about asking to have a category changed? Submit an edit and leave a comment in the submission?

Yes. Or you can PM Laurel directly [send PM to 'laurel'].

Laurel probably figured you'd get more Views in EC. Non-Erotic is more essays and "how to" guides than short fiction. I'd leave it where it is.

I had a recent story I submitted to the site, 'Virginity Lost On Vacation', moved to a different category after submission.

I put it in Fetish, as the narrator is an overweight girl who as the title suggests, loses her virginity on vacation, and I thought the BBW/fat fetish fans would like it. However it was moved to First Time, and I was worried that it would draw negative reaction given the main female character is fat, but it has done pretty well in that category, so I needn't have been concerned.

Uhm... No.

There's a category called "Reviews and Essays" and one called "How-To". That's where how-to guides and essays go.

Non-Erotic is for stories that don't contain sex, or contain only passing mentions of it. It's naturally not a big draw on a site dedicated to erotic fiction, but it's most certainly for fiction.

There are some great stories in Non-erotic. Have a look, you might be surprised at what you find and by whom.
