President Donald Trump has reportedly signed a full pardon for Scooter J. Libby, the former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney. Given the conviction for allegations against Libby, it is hard not to draw an analogy to figures like Michael Flynn or even Michael Cohen.

The Libby pardon does serve to remind people that other presidents used this power to protect their former aides. Could it be a prelude of pardons to come?

Honestly, I have no idea. Comey would say that this is a mob boss letting his people know, sit tight, I'll bail you out in the end. Others might say that this was a slap in the face to the Bush Family via W. who didn't have the balls or the loyalty to pardon the guy who fell on the sword for him.

So I just read thru the OIG and the report on McCabe

For certain, the DUMZ will say, McCabe merely mis-spoke......But then again, Libby said he couldnt remember a specific date from yrs ago and he didnt lie

The DUMZ will protect one and attack the pardon of the other

George W. Bush was heard to say, "Why didn't I think of that?"

Hey, if the president wants to remind America how petty Dick Chaney was, so be it.

what is petty

is having a SC look into who leaked and it turned out HE KNEW WHO DID and did nothing and got someone who mis-remembered a date from yrs ago

Indeed.

The OIG report on McCabe found he "lacked candor on multiple occasions" and cited violations.

Meanwhile, Scooter.

Trump is suddenly very concerned about Scooter Libby. Here’s why.
"The former Bush aide was convicted of obstruction of justice -- the same thing Trump is being investigated for."
During a CNN interview on Friday, Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) sounded the alarm about Libby being pardoned for obstruction of justice by a president currently under investigation for obstruction of justice.

“Look, we’re in a tough time right now, we’re grappling with this Mueller investigation,” Kaine said. “Even today, the president is announcing that he’s gonna pardon Scooter Libby.”

“Why pardon Scooter Libby today? People have forgotten about Scooter Libby,” Kaine added. “The pardoning of somebody who is convicted for obstruction of justice working in the White House, I think is more about sending a message to people today than it is about a case that’s 10 years old — so we’re in a very very challenging time right now.”
Message to current staff, fixers, and co-conspirators: Keep your mouths shut and you'll be rewarded with pardons. That's obstruction. Period.

Good....as it should be

Okay. Whatever. I think you are cherry-picking from the report.
OIG report (pdf):
Conclusion
As detailed in this report, the OIG found that then-Deputy Director Andrew McCabe lacked candor, including under oath, on multiple occasions in connection with describing his role in connection with a disclosure to the WSJ, and that this conduct violated FBI Offense Codes 2.5 and 2.6. The OIG also concluded that McCabe’s disclosure of the existence of an ongoing investigation in the manner described in this report violated the FBI’s and the Department’s media policy and constituted misconduct.
That's the final paragraph of the summary. Pick your own cherries.

Lacking candor, under oath, is a lie.
That's your cherry.
I didn't write the OIG report or summary, only posted the summary conclusion. Let us know if you find anything else there. Dig deep. Take your hand lens. And some Gatorade -- it's pretty dry in there.

Supporters of Libby, including Cheney, have long pushed for a pardon. The effort intensified after former New York Times reporter Judith Miller’s 2015 book where she doubted the accuracy of her testimony that prosecutors used to convict Libby.

Miller testified in 2007 that Libby told her Plame was a CIA agent. Prosecutors used that testimony to say Libby lied.

But Miller wrote in her 2015 book, “The Story: A Reporter’s Journey” that she’s worried her memory “may have failed me” during the trial, and now doubts Libby ever told her that Plame worked for the CIA.

So what does "lack of candor" mean to you?

That's because it was Cheney who revealed the name of an undercover CIA agent. He deliberately did it after Plame's husband showed the yellow cake memo, the singular justification for invading and occupying Iraq, was a complete joke. Fake, to use the current parlance.

And Miller can't be trusted. She has been caught numerous times lying or plagiarizing.

It was Powell's deputy who leaked the info

and

You do know that Mr and Mrs Plame were on the front cover of a national magazine and touted as to who she was way before anything

and if Miller cant be trusted, then Libbey lost alot cause the SC used her to get him

Prosecutor should have gone after Richard Armitage.
