Hey, Just submitted my first story. It's currently "pending approval". I'm just curious as to how long this usually takes. I'm planning on writing a follow up and submitting that soon too but just curious how long it takes before others can see it is all.

It depends on a number of factors, but an Author's first story always takes longer. Laurel will want to review it more carefully to make sure you're following the rules. Once you get established, they go a bit faster.

There have been a couple of comments in the forum recently about submissions taking longer than usual, even for well-established writers.

As a rule of thumb, don't be too concerned until your story has been pending for 7 days.

Don't just plan on writing the follow-up...get busy and submit it as soon as possible. You will most likely loose a number of readers who liked the first one if the second one isn't ready to click on. Many writers (me included) write the entire series and submit them all on the same day ;) Best wishes on success !

oh wow, ok thanks. I was just planning on writing it over the next few hours and submitting in the next few days. but if that's the case I'll try and write/submit asap.

My most recent submission is SO good that Laurel keeps reading it over and over again and hasn't been able to move on to actually posting it and reading the next story in line. Sorry.

At least now we know who to blame.

That's what I like to see. A bit of hubris never did anybody any harm. It's how I write all my stories nowadays ;).

And other writers, like me. have kept their readers waiting more than a year for the next chapter so it's not written in stone. If they like your story enough, they'll plead with you. She says, donning her leathers and picking up the whip....plead ... plead damn you:D

It has switched to new, but dated tomorrow, so I believe it will go online at Midnight PST.

Ah, is that the magic hour? That seems like something I should have figured out for myself by now. But it does explain why everything seems to be updated when I wake up in the morning. Guess I'll catch Ch. 6 tomorrow.

My impression is that every approved piece gets marked for publication the following day. So, they go up at midnight wherever Lit Central is located. (The U.S.west coast, I assume from the timing.)

So, I submitted an edit of an existing story a little over a week ago. Yesterday, the edit disappeared from pending view, so I assumed it was good. However, the re-edit has still not been posted. My edit has not shown up as rejected, nor have I received communication indicating a problem with my edit or how I submitted.

Has anyone ever experienced (or with current update issues, is anyone currently experiencing) something like this?

Wait twenty-four hours for everything to load and synch. Happens all the time - different parts of the site update at different times.

It's been over 36 hours now; I thought I'd check with the group here since everyone seems to be experiencing delays. I'll contact Laurel if it goes a few more days without changing.
