Multiple reports to the FBI, dozens of calls to local police, multiple students claiming they were afraid of him, the parkland kids who claimed they "knew he was going to do it" and who didn't report him? The amount of kids who admitted that they bullied him?

That's someone you'd consider "healthy and sane", and who didn't need better treatment?

Nicolas Cruz had heaps of problems before and his second parent had just died.

He should have been seeing some sort of mental health professional for support (via referral by his teacher-school counsellor then/or mental health team).
His counsellor or whoever was seeing him would have then picked on his homicidal thoughts and the tragedy would have been avoided.

But psychological treatment is very expensive for the individual and isn't readily subsidised by the American Insurance System. That's why so many Americans are overmedicated instead.

Cruz was cleared by the state and medical pros. He got the full array of treatment available. Do you think the opinions of acquaintances should be given more weight? That’s a dangerous path to take.

It's not about that. He was a kid who was angry all the time and his second parent had just died. He needed some support. And his counsellor or whatever would have later on picked up on his risk.

Does that make me warm up to him? That pos murdered 17 kids, no personal tragedy is an excuse for that.

No understanding of the fact that after losing his second parent, he's also facing limitted prospects because of his record. Very few people can deal with so many successive blows.

It's a lot harder to gun down perceived enemies with proper gun legislation. The prevalence of guns makes it a lot easier for any one with impulsive behaviour and a grudge to go on a shooting spree.

Guns have always been a big part of America, You'd see them on gun racks in pickup trucks in the school parking lots, behind doors in people's houses, in desk drawers. One could see kids heading down the street carrying rifles or pellet guns heading for local canyons to hunt after school. Almost every boy had a BB gun, pellet gun, a .22, or a shotgun...nobody got shot. So what is different? I'll tell you, it's the way we raise our kids. No parenting, no discipline, no morality, no friggin' sense of responsibility, and no father in the home.
