"This is extremely dangerous to our democracy." Bad day for right-wing propaganda

This video is being covered by all major networks / media outlets. Spreading like wildfire.

Trump has already tweeted a defense for his beloved Sinclair (yes, it's laughable).

Some of these anchors are embarrassed beyond words now.

Soooooo, like .... um .... whatcha' talkin' about?

Tell me. In words.

You know what words are, right? They don't need to be clicked to tell a story.

Sinclair media put out a must say piece about the evils of fake news that ran all over the country on local stations - because they own a ridiculous amount of stations all over the country. Sinclair wants to do a merger with another company that would make them even larger. Sinclair has "must run" pieces of political bias. Sinclair officials met with Ajit Pai right before the Trump inauguration and then shortly after he was made FCC chair and then shortly thereafter again he rolled back the rules limiting how many stations a single entity can own.

The piece I linked was a PBS broadcast that goes into the specific details of who, how many, the biased pieces and all of the other bullshit Sinclair pulls.

And frankly you shouldn't be a smart ass shmuck when I could easily say, hey there's google, it's all over the news and you shouldn't have to be told. Don't be a dick.

Nothing says "We're an independent news source speaking truth to power" like a president claiming you're on the level and all your competitors are liars.

I don't have to worry too much about Sinclair — they own a TV station in my market and have for years, but it's a pretty big market. But those in markets where a Sinclair station is the only game in town are getting literal propaganda in the guise of a harmless local newscast.

You're saying Sinclair is truly independent?

The single largest owner of news in this country is conservative and the media is liberal! I love how delicious this is.

Commercial media spew product designed for their audience, whose eyeballs they sell to advertisers. Attract eyeballs by catering to the audience, or go broke, duh. Most Americans are not conservative and don't watch Faux or Sinclair or alt.rite fucktards if given a choice.

The 'liberal' (i.e. not fucktard) MSM ain't going broke; Tromp's attacks have benefited corporate bottom-lines. He acts like a shill. Nice job, Donnie. Bezos will get his money back and you won't.

Summer’s coming, basement’s gonna be damp soon.

Let’s all chip in and buy roary a dehumidifier.

Of course you won't give up your own -- your mom's, really. Greedygutz.

At this point that isn't even true. Libs have been rolled but it's pretty much all right and we either wake up and fight or vote Trump in 2020.

Are you and ror married?

Really? You typed that?

Her fingers just move, randomly.

Twenty years ago she could have called it masturbation. I don't know what you call it at her age, dementia and hard drugs added in.

We'll just call it sad, so very sad. Don't ask about her military service. That is even more of a sad story.

Local news is becoming a bit of a dinosaur though, much like newsprint has ...

http://www.journalism.org/2016/07/07/pathways-to-news/

Still, TV continues to be the most widely used news platform; 57% of U.S. adults often get TV-based news, either from local TV (46%), cable (31%), network (30%) or some combination of the three. This same pattern emerges when people are asked which platform they prefer – TV sits at the top, followed by the web, with radio and print trailing behind.

But demographics speak to the fragility behind those TV numbers. While solid majorities of both those ages 50-64 (72%) and those 65+ (85%) often get news on TV, far smaller shares of younger adults do so (45% of those 30-49 and 27% of those 18-29). Alternatively, the two younger groups of adults are much more likely than older adults to turn to online platforms for news – 50% of 18- to 29-year-olds and 49% of those ages 30-49 often do so.

So Sinclair is mostly just preaching to the choir. The data also in many ways explains the ratings and popularity for outlets like Fox News.

I'm an elder who sees TV news only at the BBQ pit down in the county seat (where only two films were ever shot, and The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle wasn't one of them). Elder relatives set their asses in front of FauxNewz for hours on end. They yell a lot. I'm calm.

Faux and Sinclair and Gups in general have this tied-to-a-dying-demographic problem. Sort of like tobacco companies. Damn, the customers keep croaking!

They don't own any where I live. To be honest I'm not sure who does own the tv stations here. I know one company owns 2 or 3 of them but I can't remember who they are cuz I don't pay much attention to them. I know it's not Sinclair tho. Certainly right leaning but different people. I don't watch tv news much anyway. Not long ago I dated a woman who was the afternoon anchor for a local station. I'd watch then cuz of her but even that got old pretty quick. So did she for that matter.
Plus the station she worked for kinda sucked but it was nice to see someone on tv and be able to legitimately say "I fucked her."
