I am working on a story that's kind of a tried and true cliche / trope, but I'm ... er, "excited" by it.

It's like the spartan soldier with his apprentice. I'm too lazy to research ancient Sparta so I am making up a fictional place and stuff.

So in the story there is some serious power imbalance and interpersonal domination - straight up master / servant. But there's no typical BDSM features like ropes and whips and shackles. Its maybe a little more cuddly than a typical BDSM theme.

Also in this story it's two men. If I go serial, there will probably also be women in the story with various combinations of genders.

So do you think this a BDSM story, a Non-con story (because the servant cannot give true consent), or is this a GM story - as far as categorizing a story for Literotica? If we call it GM but then women start showing up in later chapters ... the world may go crazy.

You haven't noticed? The world's already crazy.

Traditional wisdom is that if there's guy on guy action it goes to GM.

If women show up later then you can move those chapters to different categories. A problem may come up if you want chapters that mix guy/guy with heterosexual. There's no bi category, so that would probably still need to go to GM.

be forewarned: if you put gay sex anywhere but in gm, you'll be inciting a riot. half the time the trolls follow you to gm and object to male on male.

hmmm ... It appears I already violated that rule and have not received anyone's gay panic wrath. Perhaps I should say no more.

From your pubs list it looks like you might have violated it a couple times. Shame on you!

Well this is all very interesting. Most of these stories I wrote in the past year or two and have been editing them to make them presentable for Lit. I did not write them for Literotica categories. I just wrote them because I liked a particular fantasy. I am kind of glad I asked this question, though not entirely comfortable with the implications of what I have from learned from you all.

I mean, I really do not think of "Simone and the photo shoot" as being a gay men's theme. The central character is female and there is a bit more hetero action than same gender action. There is also FF activity, but I gather no one would insist that it should be categorized under lesbian. I think I actually categorized it as "noncon/reluctance," but the Lit editors placed it under "nonhuman." :)

"Stephen" is primarily about a young man and his crush on the lady next door, though there is some hot guy-on-guy action. It would be quite misplaced as a "GM" story.

I just took a look at 'Stephen'. Yes. Yes, it does indeed have some hot guy-on-guy action, and I will be reading that, in more detail, a bit later on. Some nice writing there. :D

I fell victim to this. I have a series going that's had references and m/m action from the beginning. Had mostly positive reviews, so I decided I'd write a chapter with intent to post in GM. Posted a solid disclaimer at the beginning. No plot developments with regards to the main story. Contains gay sex. Don't read if you're not interested. Gave them every opportunity.

Yeah, well, they did anyway and they've kept the story bombed below 4.0 since.

I plan on the final chapter to be full of gay debauchery just to wreck their fantasy!!!

Sci-Fi/Fantasy might work, depending on how much you elaborate on the "fictional" bits of your history. Everyone knows that male dark elves are at least as gay as your average female porn stars are lesbians :).

My stories "The Temptation of Gheeran" and "The Faceless Executioner" feature bisexual male protags and uncensored m/m action. No torches or pitchforks in the comments, but by now my readers should know to expect anything, kink-wise.

It sounds more D/s than BDSM from what you said...non-con seems to be more of a bi-product of the story rather than a main theme. If there's more than two characters involved, Group Sex is an option. If you do a series, each chapter could be in different categories (but that always seemed wrong somehow to me for some reason...but it would make it more clear to a potential reader  )
