My grandfather was a furniture maker in his younger days. Then he went to work for an airplane building company and did that until he retired. Once he retired he went to work at a wrought iron furniture place. He made an inlay wood table for my mom and a wrought iron rocking chair. The rocking chair looked like it would be hard and uncomfortable, but even without a cushion it was comfortable to sit in.

I love well made furniture, but boy is it expensive. :)

My youngest daughter sent out some pictures this afternoon.

She's my 28 year-old (former) professional ballerina, now school administrator, head of faculty, and prima for a ballet school and non-professional company in Chicagoland. Private lessons earn her more per hour than I make.

The photographer asked her to model for him because he wants to develop more of a business in dance photography. She's in ballet costumes in all photos. I'd love to repost them here, but this is a completely inappropriate site.

Just the same, let's say that daddy is proud. Not because she's quite lovely, but because she's tough and hard, brilliant and still beautiful.

She sounds amazing. :)

I've had the pleasure of knowing three ballerinas in my lifetime. Three amazing women. Very fit, muscular to a point that i envied the sculpture of their bodies, smart, and very classy.

It sounds like your daughter fits that mold. Congrats and yes, daddy should be proud.

Why is it that I get nervous anywhere near my Dentist ?

Because you're sane?

Name me three people who get pleasure out of visiting a dentist, a physiotherapist or a proctologist. No, never mind, cancel Number Three - half the politicians in the nation are on that list.

I can now claim to have visited all three.
I didn't enjoy it all much

Any more coffee in the pot, please ?

Morning all.

I got an early morning call from my editor on the new book. The sea of red ink is shallower than expected and she's in wait and see mode on the new beginning. Other than that....

Fresh coffee for the troops. Speaking of troops, don't pay any attention to the heavily armed people wandering around the cafe. Chloe is working on a new action adventure novel and it's seems like the cafe is the perfect place to destroy, uh, I mean set it.

I'll be in the office until all the loud noises are over.

It's your planter boats you gotta worry about Tex. The Aussies were out there this morning drinking VB before breakfast and Jason was practicing with his VK-12 and one of those planter boats made a good target.....but so far the cafe is intact thru to the end so I think you're safe.

VB ? Jason practicing with his what ?
But as long as Trigger has the safety on 'ole Betsy' we'll be OK.

Time for a coffee, I think

Coffee for HP.

Back to the office and on the phone with my insurance agent. He says my fiction policy has a high deductible. So far I've lost a planter and gained a basement.

More coffee for all.

VB = Victoria Bitter aka some kind of Aussie beer I picked at random.

VK-12 = Vollmer vk-12 combat shotgun from Fear (the game)

With the payout from the Feds for these monsters, Tex, you're gonna be able to build a whole new coffee shop...

Good Morning, one and all

The coffee is fresh, the kettle is hot. So help yourself.

Beautiful day here today, 80 with rain tomorrow. Spring is struggling to break through.

Black, please.

Awaiting the promised thaw, but the local council is warning that the expected fast melt with present snow levels may cause local flooding. Ya cain't win, ya cain't break even an' ya' cain't even get out of the game... :(

If it's just local flooding then it will probably happen in areas that have been flooded over-and-over in the past.

Here the day started with sunshine and scattered hot air balloons. The earliest flowering trees are starting to bloom and it should reach 70 this afternoon.

I'm really not looking forward to this weekend's switch to Daylight Savings Time. It's only been recently that I could see when I got dressed in the morning.

Pine tree pollen is a yellow dust that coats everything that is outside for very long. Maybe it won't be as bad this year as it was last. Some areas of the lake had thick yellow coatings on the surface.

I like the extra daylight time in the afternoons.

There's a very amusing piece in the film "Operation Petticoat"
It's sung by the Sonar Operator:-
"You can't win, my friend,
You can't win so why even try
?
Tomorrow you may die"

I like getting to drive home in the daylight. My desk is nowhere near a window.

The upside for me is that DST gives me enough time in the evening to light up the barbecue. I don't think I'll take it out of it's cover until next weekend. The weather here Sunday and Monday isn't going to be barbecue weather.

I know. I work in the bowels of a concrete shoebox and there's no windows and it's all artificial lighting. Just walking out into fresh air is great. Sunlight is bliss. Warm spring sun ..... I just love it
