High School Shooting In Florida

I wonder what the relevance is and why people drag this bullshit out.

Cars aren't guns....suicides aren't violent crime...one is a civil right the other isn't.....the shit isn't related on really any level.

People want to call totally unrelated things "gun violence" so that they can ban guns.

Suicides and gang violence have nothing to do with guns. Those things would still happen without guns.

Mass shootings would be more or less lethal without guns, depending on if the assailant used a knife, or a bomb. Less with the former, more with the latter.

But, if you put all of those things together, you can make it seem like guns are the culprit. It's an ingenious strategy from people who hate something that they don't understand. A lot of people fall for it, including many in this thread.

Dead people are dead people, and not meaningless.

So why not more threads on Syria? Where more than 10 times the people who died in the shooting in Parkland were killed last week by government forces?

Dead people are meaningless, if they're not well-to-do.

Richard, Mr. Sensitive, is really really irritated that people care about kids getting shot up in schools.

Care to bitch about it some more?

It sounds like he's irritated the same dumbshit arguments, especially ones from people who know nothing about guns keep pushing for dumb ass shit like "assault weapons" and accessories bans. Bullshit keeps getting pushed as solutions for problems that doesn't even exist. Most of shit proposed is so fucking ignorant and hate driven it's like the pro gun control side doesn't even give a shit....you just want to needle gun owners because you're assholes, that's all your lot cares about at this point.

I think there is lots of room for rational control measures, no prohibition needed, that would arguably put a huge dent in our gun violence issue and security measures that would keep our schools far safer.

But ya know, none of that would get enough shit on gun owners shoes so why would you bother considering any of it?

Awesome. Let's hear them

Awesome. Let's hear them

1) National BG check system with potentially dangerous mental patients, violent offenders, terrorist etc. names in there. With modern tech there is no reason why everyone can't communicate when there is a potential threat stirring.

2) Training. If you can't shoot worth a shit or demonstrate basic safety awareness and competency...you don't get a licence and thus do not get access to legally own/carry guns. That's the compromise for the "Shall nawt in-fringe!! If they can afford it stealth bombers with hot nukes should be free to buy!" folks.....it's shall issue because 2A but you still have to go demonstrate a basic appearance of sanity and competency before you go packing in public.

3) Compromise from the anti-gun trolls is once a person is checked out and gets a licence they get to roll with it. You can't have any of your vindictive "fuck you" taxes or restrictions on ammo, accessories, how many they can have or where they can carry.

4) End the war on drugs, sex and rock n' roll.... refocus that effort and start a war on illegal guns and violent crime.

5) Secure our schools, a totally separate issue from gun control altogether.

6) sit back and watch gun violence go into decline and school shootings drop off along with the body counts associated with them. Everyone wins.

BUUUUUUUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....we as a nation are going to keep with the "Fuck you buddy!! No fuck YOU !!!" gig and accomplish a lot of fuckin' nothing like a bunch of spiteful kindergartners on a heinous sugar crash after blowing off nap time.

Comments here;

#1. We already have that. Some officials can't seem to be bothered to fill out the paperwork. That needs to be corrected.

#2 I'll agree to that the day that it's agreed that voter's must take a competency test.

#3. There is a federal excise tax on that stuff, every penny of that tax goes to wildlife management. This was a tax that sportsmen self-imposed on themselves almost 100 years ago. Wee Willy Clinton tried to raid that fund back in the '90's and found himself on the losing end of a Supreme Court case.

#4. And just how would this new "war" work?

#5. Agreed. Soft targets are the choices of maniac's.

#6. Maybe.

So why not more threads on Syria?
So start some. Also on Myanmar, Venezuela, Yemen, Baltimore, et al. And the flu epidemic. And Nestle corp's involvement in millions of infant deaths. And US MidEast troops suiciding. And Paul Krugman's latest column. You have many targets available.

The cat is out of the bag in America. Guns everywhere. Melt down all the new ones in shops today and they are still everywhere. Kits and doodads that allow faster firing and more capacity are easy to get and not that difficult to make. What library does not have a "plastic printer" available to its patrons?

Backgrounds easy to skip, fake, or bypass. Mass shootings that were unheard of a decade ago now happen every other month. School budgets cannot patch the holes in the roof are being asked to provide metal detectors and surveillance.

The time and chance to fix this problem has come and gone. Arming teachers and retired cops? Bandaids on severed limbs. The only way to fix this would be house to house searches and confiscations. That ain't happening.

Learn to duck and cover. We are fucked.

No we don't...we have an archaic system that performs at the rancid dog shit level.

We can do better with VAST room for improvement.

#2 I'll agree to that the day that it's agreed that voter's must take a competency test.

Agree or not it would in all likely go a good ways towards keeping guns out of the hands of the insane and incompetent. Especially if that communication network is up and working properly.

#4. And just how would this new "war" work?

Just like any other law enforcement.

Licence? Gunz = no problem!!

No licence and a gun? You're going to fuckin' prison bro!! 20 year mandatory minimum!!

#6. Maybe.

Maybe my ass, better security at schools ALONE would make a difference.

Making some effort to keep people too crazy or stupid from getting them would also likely be highly effective.

Notice we don't have a lot of belt fed full auto massacres??

I was actually thinking about it the other day.
Leaving aside the fact that many of us have relatives who -God forbid- could be at risk too,
they're much more similar to us culturally, so it affects one more. I'm sure that other nations feel in similar ways.

I too, feel that massmedia is pushing a bit too much the emotional yet unproductive interviews with kids from that high school. I'd say let the parents who lost their children take charge. They know both about loss and they offered some feasible solutions too.

There's a war on Rock'nRoll? Is that a Miley Cyrus reference?

I mean, isn't rock pretty much dead as a genre?

Sadly most of those parents are as ignorant about guns and the existing laws as you are. (And I said ignorant (uninformed), not stupid.) In virtually all of the shooting cases several federal laws resulting in felony arrests were violated BEFORE the maniac first pulled the trigger.

That might be, but at least their agenda isn't subconsciously contaminated by Politics or other interests.
I'm not saying that they should decide on these things because they wouldn't know. But it would be great if constituents would be involved in such discussions and decisions too, in these cases parents.

Btw what do you think about the suggestion of arming certain teachers? Provided they pass psychological tests and so on.
The idea seemed outlandish to me initially. But I saw an interview with a Texan teacher on CBS who said that he carries a conceal permit, and he seemed quite appropriate.

Their agenda is polluted by raw emotion, and emotion is the anti-thesis of reason. I don't blame them for their emotions on the subject. It's not only understandable, but should be expected. But emotions don't make for good law or policy.

Arming the teachers. When I went to school more than a few teachers WERE armed. The high schools I went to had arms rooms with quite an arsenal locked up therein. During hunting season you would see more than a few student pick-up trucks with guns in racks in the rear of the cab. I never understood the rationale behind outlawing such activity to begin with. No one can argue that it made the schools 'safer' by doing so.

I just use it as a reference for all the pop culture shit that's trending fun to blame the worlds problems on. Video games make kids shoot up their schools, rap music made lil Brandy a slut etc. etc.

as for music...

Light Rock got with pop and never came back.

Heavier rock went metal which has advanced in technical ways beyond most genres from a technical music for music nerd standpoint.

I used to like Megadeath, but after recently listening to one of their CDs, I had a sudden epiphany as to why Metallica kicked Dave out of the band. I put the CD on the "do not play" shelf.

They want me to create the arguments for them to help to take away my rights.

Sounds like some really lazy shit to me.

Anti-gunners have no interest in educating themselves, and they don't give a fuck about "the children".

Why? People like you won't care.

You just want to ban guns, you don't actually care about human life. If you did, you'd already be starting those threads yourself.

Watches teens getting blown away and bitches about his "rights."

You think he woudl have done better than the guard that hid outside?

He ran into the line of fire to protect his students, sans the benefit of his authorized conceal carry pistol, because, you know, it was a fucking 'GUN FREE ZONE', and that policy cost him his life and those of sixteen others, as well as many that are now wounded. Absolutely, and your comment to the contrary, this would have ended entirely differently had he not been stripped of his Constitutional right.

So it was a gun free zone except for the sheriff's deputy with a gun.
