This is a link to a video by Jenne Moreci who I find absolutely hilarious, but also really knows her shit.

This features the ten worst types of writers, and as soon as I started watching I realized two things.

They all exist on lit and we've all seen it, and maybe been guilty of it. Also I joined a local writers association here in RI a couple years ago and those ten types are there in spades, and extra haughty cause they all have paperbacks!(and 95% of them self published:rolleyes:)

Oh Christ, I'm a #9. I honestly thought for a minute there that I was gonna make it through unscathed.

Its very jumpy, like she's splicing every four seconds. I got used to it

I think they cut between every sentence. It's a style thing. I've seen a few of her videos and they were all like that. I don't really mind it.

I see a little of myself in several of those 10 types.

I don't think I outright fit into any, but I do have tracings of a couple. I might be most guilty of genre shaming, but its not personal, I just tend to be a 'snob' about certain things

She's good isn't she? I found her videos while looking for advice on writing The Sex.

Can't watch the video atm but if I remember right, I've been a number of those writers and come out the other side.

I felt that none of it fit me. Not to say that I'm a good writer, just aaying I'm in the uncharted territory of the worst writers imaginable.

I'm the type that talks of writing a bunch of stuff but never does.

But hey at least I write something...

Several of the types are people who don't write, so you can skip over those. Actually, her pet peeve seemed to be "writers" who don't write. It came up a lot.

I'll admit to being delusional once, but I got over it.

I've been one of the writers who say their characters guide them. The idea is expressed here fairly often. I think I'm over that one too, but maybe some people would disagree with that being a problem.

And, while I try to write every day, sometimes that amounts to a few words at a time, or to staring over my beer at the words on the screen.

To my mind, if you want to let your characters guide you in a first draft, there's nothing wrong with that. As long as your final draft makes sense and is well edited. No one has a right to judge your process, only your final product.

Hm. Maybe a bit of #8, but I think I've found my own stride by now. Everyone needs to start something, and writing X-rated versions of D&D tie-in novels isn't a bad way to start :)

I`m definitely the #9 type, although I still write the damn story despite my characters fucking up my entire outlined plot, character bio and whatnot. And even making it better than what I initially came up with.
Damn characters, making my stories so much better when I didn`t intend to.

Then again, I guess that doesn`t qualify as a #9, since they claim they don`t actually write the stories ...

I find her quite annoying. Has anyone else read any of her stuff?

I tried reading Eve: The awakening. It was bad, cringe-worthy bad. I couldn't make it through the first chapter.

Jenna is a very formulaic writer and thinks that the key to successfully writing is religiously adhering to the formula she has embraced.

Those who can't do, teach.

Those who can't teach, become YouTube celebrities.

How else do you explain the "career" of Tobuscus, of Nugget in a Biscuit fame?

Once machines and AI take over, this is how we'll all make a living: creative inanity.

I've seen a few of her videos, and in what I've seen she's never claimed to be a great writer. She's only claimed to have opinions. And she's easy to look at. And some of her opinions make sense. The video style is different, but I thought from an earlier video that maybe her boyfriend was responsible for that.

We have opinions expressed here all the time with less to back them up. And (like it or not) none of the visual. She's mostly entertainment for writers.

Now that's a niche.

Oh Lord it’s hard to be humble, when you’re perfect in every way.
I can’t wait to send to my editor the stories I write every day.
To know me I to love me, I must be a Hell of a scribe.
Oh Lord it’s hard to be humble but I’m..fuck this shit.
Song lyrics and poetry are hard, that’s why I write erotica.
Deal with it.
Penis descriptions and all.
(My humble and sincere apologies to Mac Davis.)

I don't get it. I've watched four of her videos now and haven't seen any tit even.

She uses lists a lot. I don't trust people who list everything. They are usually liars, narcissists and creeps.

1. They might just be regurgitating other peoples information.
2. Lists can be used to suggest logical process and mislead..
3. They are a bit childish. A writer should be able to take someone from point a to point z without a reader seeing the checkpoints.
4. Lists are really annoying when you know someone said they have 10 points to discuss and they are still whining and banging on and its only point 4.
5. Lists are lazy and reflect intellectual shortcuts.
6. She should get her tits out.

Fuck lists...

There, I think i've shown you all what sort of writer I am.
