High School Shooting In Florida

Until someone has to clean the blood and gunk from a wood chipper, they won't understand the truth in your words.

I mean....🙊

Are suicidal folks mentally stable? Are you all for giving someone that is suiciadal access to a gun, AJ?

I agree with that 100%.
What I disagree with is lumping all dead people into a political argument in order to create a false impression of danger. Suicide, domestic violence and gang/drug violence have no bearing on the danger to the average citizen due to random mass shootings.

That is not at all what Que said, and that is what I was responding/lumping to.

They both seem to be trying to defend a Vetteman post. A VETTEMAN POST FOR GAWDS SAKE!

I was just going along for the fun of it. :D

Yes, the percentages are different. Injuries cost us all in some manner though. And supposedly every life is precious. Just ask Eyer! I tend to disagree with that concept, but thats probably just me. Oh, and all gun accidents are preventable too.

Of course they are. And they don't happen to the average gun owner in my state every three years. A state where quite sensibly, if you are not forbidden by law to own a gun, you can carry it politely concealed. No permit required. Guns are everywhere. We are just a couple hours North of unspeakable "gun violence" and mass graves where guns are forbidden. Same gangs traffic on our side of the border however they don't start mass executions because they wouldn't survive. We had some home Invasion robberies for a while that got nipped in the bud when several different home invasion robbers inevitably got killed.

Florida is far safer today because of the passage of their concealed carry law and the increase in gun ownership that that brought. Pretending that isn't true is either ignorance or dishonesty.

We are in the same situation. We can legally conceal carry without a legal permit. We're back to the 1870s, the Wild Wild West where people were massacring each other on a regular basis. ;) ;)

Cars are everywhere too. But Florida is far saner today because it doesn't bare the burden of a Vetteman residency. That's a blessing in this day and age of gun and car violence. Pretending that isn't true is either ignorance or dishonesty.

Agreed. Personally I'm thankful that he's scared of what he likes to fantasize are steel penises because of everyone on the board I think he's clearly the most likely to become a mass shooter. After all, no-one apprcetiated him and he ended up having to create his own 15 years of Excellence award. The "man" just does not get what's "due" him.

I fear for Houston. Houston, Canada apparently.

The key word here is "adjudicated." Very rarely do these crazies have a legal status.

Just seeing a therapist, being on meds, or gossip about how crazy you are won't get you on a list. Not to mention you can get a gun practically anywhere.

The NRA knows very well the "solution" they offer is absolute crap. They trot it out to pretend they care, and it's not their fault.

If they're so big on "checks," why do they consistently oppose expanding background checks and closing the loophole for private sellers? There is so much more than can do to make it harder and they shoot down every single option time and again.

Some people have clear warning signs; many do NOT.

Actually, I have changed my position considerably. I no longer think banning guns of some type or another makes sense. No assault weapons ban. No handgun ban. The public policy that makes sense and is achievable is keeping weapons out of the hands of people who are demonstrably and predictably incapable of using them for all lawful purposes.

I was watching LaPierre at CPAC saying the same thing. He literally said that the national instant background check system was conceived by the NRA, it was their bill and that "anyone adjudicated as mentally incompetent or dangerous to society should be added to the check system and prevented from getting their hands on a gun". He then showed a video where he said the NRA has been advocating for this for 20 years.

By the way, did you an AJ renew your bromance after he ratted you out for creating a bunch of alts for the HOF voting? I know how that wounded you so. I don't blame you for hating him, but hate the sin and not the sinner. Plus, let's be real. It's not like you'll ever get another friend.

Actually, after listening to some folks, I too, softened my stance on the issue a bit.

I can see that things are much more complex than what I thought before, and I wouldn't like to live in a gang-infested and crime riddled neighborhood either, without keeping a gun locked in somewhere.

By the same token, I would think that very, very thorough background checks are needed. America seems to be lacking in that respect. And at the very slightest sign of trouble or doubt, take their guns away until they pass an additional check.

Or whatever.
Actually, the idea of continuing to release guns into the popullation still makes me very, very anxious, regardless of stringency of background checks.

I just think that a different level of debate needs to take place.
Take the political zealots, gun nuts and financial interest groups out of it first, and perhaps then people would be able to reach a reasonable compromise.

350 million guns in the US and ignoramuses keep insisting not enough is being done, not enough safeguards are in place, too many holes are in a system that factually produces scores and scores and scores fewer injuries and deaths than plain ol American...

...alcohol use.

Geezus: can't all you totally feminized, emotionally hyperbolic hysteriosos simply pool together and start your own DRAMA channel?

He sulked for two solid months. Attempted alt after alt trying to curry favor again with the Chief.

I don't care much for Lit's Situational Native American but give squawboy credit, when he cut his little mentally ill buddy loose he made it quick and permanent. I think that's what gored Que's ox the most.

It took a good school shooting to get Queerbait's alt production back up to historical norms.

See, more guns in schools is the obvious conclusion to this. Arm everyone now!

Yeah, so much safer:
