What should Trump do about guns?

1. Make gun free zones illegal.
2. Make it Federal law that a conceal carry permit is universally accepted in all 50 states, in the same way a drivers license is accepted
3. Allow teachers and staff to conceal carry, and those that choose to do so should be offered specific training and resources
4. Enforce the present laws on the books. The FBI should be held to account for any and all failures to act when it becomes obvious they criminally failed to act when required.

Ban microstamping regulations (since the technology doesn't exist), repeal the racist 1968 GCA, de-regulate silencers, reciprocity.

He won't do any of those things though, since he duped just about any gun owner who voted for him.

DJT will do nothing about firearms, will stay as far from the issue as possible. Notice that his tweets re: Parkland never include the word 'guns'. Secret Service keeps people from shooting him. That's all that matters.

Hmmm, one of Putin's oligarch buddies (an NRA member) funneled millions in Russian cash through the NRA into Team Tromp's coffers during the 2016 campaign. I'd say DJT is a bit... compromised. No, he'll stay in the background. Playing golf. Still.

Ban the AR-15 from being sold as well as metal detectors at schools. It's sad but it's come to that. Teachers don't need to be armed and carry a concealed weapon Trumpy. There should be a lot of changes to the GOP as most of them are backed by the NRA. "Yeah let's go hunting with a version of the M-16" shit that gun is what was used in Korea, Vietnam and today so it should be banned from being sold. These nut's don't need to get their hands on a machine gun then go hog ass wild killing people. Just watch the Senate and Congress do nothing. They don't have the guts or balls and Trumps probably fell off with all the Porn stars he's been with.

How can you expect your opinion to matter when it's so full of inaccuracies? Why do people always want to ban things they don't understand?

The most popular rifle in "common use" in America isn't going to be banned, so get that out of your head.

Number 3 always struck me as a odd solution, while in theory, great, I guess, but lets be realistic,

People went to college to become teachers/professors. Not to be Rambo in a military conquest of sorts.

The only thing Trump should do is order the DOJ to enforce the multitude of federal gun control laws already on the books. Nobody in Washington has the power to diminish our constitutional rights, they belong to us.

I agree to a point....

I agree with you that most (maybe the majority) are teachers and not inclined to want to "carry" however, I do believe that there are more than a few teachers and staff people who would. (And that does not include former military who have become teachers after leaving the military) ;)

Number 3 said, "Allow teachers and staff to conceal carry, and those that choose to do so should be offered specific training and resources" Which indicates voluntary carry and of course if they chose to do so, they should be trained and competent to do so. I think in concert with local police department training, it is a viable and workable alternative to the current "gun free" atmosphere that simply advertises "soft targets", no resistance...

As a parent, I would be more comfortable knowing my kids' teacher was armed, competent and well trained than I would be with knowing they were simply going to "barricade" themselves in a classroom with no means to defend themselves and "hope" they were not found...;)

But that just may be me....lol

why NEW laws

when LAWS on books ARENT FOLLOWED by FBI n POLICE

the police and fbi keep MISSING the obvious.....too busy chasing little green russians

missed 9/11, boston, and so many others

If you want to add "security" to a teacher's job description, you need to bump up the salary too.

And this entire post is screaming that the poster is mentally ill. Can we lock him up and throw away the key, as many seem inclined to do?

The teaching profession has been overwhelmed by liberals, and all the teachers unions in general are just side committees of the DNC. But even given that, there are still sane teachers in the system, and enough of them WANT and ADVOCATE for conceal carry, that it's a realistic, if only partial, solution. Those with the ability to use a firearm should not be forced into victimhood, nor should they be forced to watch the carnage of a mass shooting while knowing they could have done something about it, as happened in this latest Florida shooting (yes, one of the victims (football coach Aaron Feis) was a legal conceal carry who was unarmed by liberalism).

Well I'll give ya that the education system specially at the University level has become a Liberal brain washing re-education camp environment.

IDK about the teachers having guns theory, but at my HS and this was the 80's. We had two on duty police officers in there all the time, it was mostly due to drugs and violence and there really wasn't a great deal of it. It was basically middle class school system in the burbs, But why not just go straight to the source then and put cops right in the schools.
I imagine the backlash will be that too many people think Cops are gun toting crazies just out shooting everybody to begin with so it may not fly, but thats what I would do. Up the school taxes throw some police in there and there is protection.

The problem with having 'resource officers' available is that they are typically already factored in by the shooter, who knows their scheduled rounds and on a large campus can pick a moment when they aren't in the right place at the right time, making them no more effective than calling the local precinct for five minute car ride during which the shooter has an unrestricted shooting gallery. What works better is somebody like Aaron Feis being allowed to carry his firearm, and instead of dying amongst the other victims in an ineffective rush of the shooter, he was trained, and in the right place at the right time, but was rendered unarmed by the legal requirement to be disarmed in a school.

Probably true on the factored in by the shooter theory, I'd like to go a bit further than just teachers that obtained a concealed carry. I know, constitutional rights and all that blah blah blah. If we are going to go to that step, probably need better vetting process of training, background checks, and psychological profiling. Then there would probably have to be violations ( whatever those are ) of conduct outside the school that gets your school conceal carry suspended and taken away ( at least at the school level ) . I dont really have a list but for argument sake, domestic violence charge ( just throwing something arbitrary out there ) then you have less armed teachers during this time, assuming we go down that slippery slope.
Maybe have both, on duty police officer and a couple teachers armed as well.

Its a start I suppose... I think society is what needs changing not the guns, but thats my personal opinion..

I'd like to finish by saying, anybody that was trained in the Air Force shouldn't be considered for the job.... They cant shoot to begin with.

Should I just throw away my medals for IDPA and marksmanship competitions then, or is that strictly for John Kerry LOL

I'd like to point out that, if someone is determined to use a gun in a crime, it's probably not going to be a concealed carry (<.01% of gun crimes are committed by conceal carry). After all, why would you bother to go about getting fingerprinted, background checked, paying the government required fees for training, taking the classes and getting evaluated on the range, and paying the fees for the government forms you have to fill out... etc etc just to commit a crime?

And just a final point, the ability to keep all the guns out of schools doesn't mean that you're safe, seeing as how the next shooting could just as easily take place at a bus stop.... or a football game, or ... any of the possibilities where kids are going to be gathered that would make for a target rich environment.

Because people are crazy... I'd probably agree with you, I dont recall it happening but did the teachers/adults ever bring in a gun to a school and start wiping the kids out? If it has, then it should be considered into the equation, and we're talking about kids, another step or two wouldn't be all that much to ask, if we're putting guns in the school IMO..

Like I say, if we're going down this road, probably a mixture of both police/conceal carry would be a balance

Should? He can't do much at all for or against except make noises.

Bingo.

It's amazing how many US citizens think POTUS is some kind of god king that can wave his magic stick and have it his way.
