UPDATE: The article below I wrote over two years ago. Yesterday it happened again, another mass shooting, this time at a high school in Florida. Our thoughts and prayers go out to families and friends of those 17 students who lost their lives. Such a terrible, senseless, tragedy. The very disturbed shooter Nikolas Cruz had been expelled from the school and it was well known that he had a fascination with knives and guns. Nikolas and his biological brother were adopted by an older couple when Nikolas was an infant. His mother, Lynda Marie Cruz, was 49 years old and his father, Roger Paul Cruz, was 62. Roger died in 2004, when Nikolas was only 4 or 5. Nikolas’s mother died just a few months ago. Like so many of the mass shooters, young Nikolas grew up without a father in the home and with a fascination for guns.

Earlier post published October 2, 2015....The one common thread among all the recent mass shooters is they are children of single of mothers. These young men had no male role models in their homes. For 50 years, our society has encouraged women to be single mothers despite all the research proving it is detrimental to a child to be born into a home without a father. Children born to single mothers are twice as likely to become delinquent.

Children of single mothers are more likely to be in special education classes in school, more likely to drop out of school, more likely to experiment with drugs and alcohol at an early age, and more likely to become delinquent and to be incarcerated. There are no men on death row from intact families. Children of single mothers are more likely to witness domestic violence in their homes and more likely to repeat the pattern of domestic violence. Children born to a married couple are more likely to attend college, less likely to be abused, and more likely to grow up mentally and physically healthier.

A child born to a single mother has close to a 40% chance of growing up in poverty while a child born to a married couple has less than 4% chance of growing up in poverty. Children of single mothers are 14 times more likely to suffer abuse and if the mother lives with a man who is not the father of the child, the chances of abuse increase to 33 times that of a married couple. Worse, the children of single parents are more likely to grow up and repeat the pattern, a pattern that is detrimental to children. Despite what the liberals have told us, children need fathers in their lives and in their homes.

They also have another common trend. One where red flags should have set off alarms so that the incidents may have been prevented. Even the Las Vegas shooter had one or two red flag warning signs in his gambling and socializing habits.

i wouldva thought the red flags would have been the arsenal he purchased over the past few years not gmbling or social habits.

Cruz had a father figure in James Snead. Maybe James turned him into a killer.

The LV shooter had a almost uncontrolled gambling habit. He socialized with hookers (legal in NV) on a regular basis even while dating and living with his GF. Those things are red flag indicators of someone with emotional and self esteem issues.

Buying and owning multiple guns is not. No matter how you want to twist it into something, it's not. Connected to the other warning signs, it is another symptom of his personality issues, but by itself it is not indicative of anything abnormal.

Had the flags been dealt with appropriately, he wouldn't have passed the BG check. Thus, the loss of lives MAY have been avoided. It is impossible to know for sure and there's always the possibility that he could have rented a hotel room and hauled in a truckload of ANFO, in several trips hidden in is his luggage, to bring down the building with.

The warning signs were there. No one paid any attention to them. Mostly, I believe, because "Hey!, it's not my problem." Well guess what; it is.

Doesn't matter what's in their heads, just how they're armed.
Sane or crazy, they can't shoot you if they don't possess firearms.
USA arms the sane and crazy alike. Other nations don't. Count the bodies.

Y'all get to decide what shithole country you want for your kids, if any.
Y'all get to decide just how many mass slaughters are enough.
But y'all don't get to make excuses. No more excuses.

No father in the home the problem? The answer is obvious; all fathers as they leave should be required to shoot their own kids. It'd short circuit the issue and be no crazier than the current situation.

Your point being?

That the US has a disproportionate nomber of shootings compared to other countries,
because the US population and culture are inferior to other countries?
So patriotic of you.

I would argue that every nation has it's own problems which manifest themselves in specific ways.. But that in the US the assholes or vulnerable people have easier access to guns.
