High School Shooting In Florida

Yes!
Even if I'm anti-gun myself and I think that gun restriction is the best solution (I shudder to think that my family could be next)
That's the type of debate that one hopes to hear, instead of pointing fingers at 'those people', or seeing politicians try to score points.

I think it's a very complicated issue.
Many psychotropic drugs are life-saving but There Is that paradoxical effect if not monitored properly. Unfortunately, drug companies haven't come up with a better or more affordable substitute yet.

And many people nowadays Are over medicated. But why is that?
Part of it is condemnable due to bad habits, but part of it is understandable in a sense. I suspect that part of it is because health visits, therapists and field workers are costly, there is lack of personnel so it seems to be more cost-effective to pop pills.

If our health care wasn't 2 times per capita what the rest of the civilized world pays, maybe we could afford to get people adequate mental health care.

For starters:

* Must be 21 to purchase/posses any kind of firearm.
* 7 day waiting period on all firearms.
* No private sales.
*Must carry liability insurance.
* Nothing beyond a handgun.
* Gun purchase limit.

1) How would ANY of this have prevented the Florida shooting?
2) How concerned are you about the continuing erosion of rights of law abiding citizens?

LMAO, never pass court muster.

So you just want to piss law abiding gun owners off and extort them for extra money just to be a shit and have no interest in actually reducing gun crime.

Not to mention none of that is going to pass SCOTUS except the first two which just goes back to my first point, you just want to needle gun owners.

* SCOTUS rules the Second Amendment's "well-regulated militia" language applies, and issues guidelines to Congress on regulatory requirements.

Take it from there.

Fortunately for pro civil rights folks the SCOTUS can read better than you.

I was in a discussion not long ago about that with a mental health professional, he made the statement, as obvious as it was true, that, "They take drugs to escape the reality of their lives."

Why are so many trying to escape reality? I have no authoritative answer, but I do have a question to ponder. Could it be that the media is continuously telling us how miserable our lives are? How we are so oppressed by this and/or by that? It seems to me that this continual bombardment of negativity has to have an effect.

You're partially right, in that parts of our society encourage that mentality.

But I would argue that at the same time, society also encourages the reverse:
It teaches people that those who get at he top and make a lot of money (boys) or are pretty (girls) are winners, and those who don't make it to the top or fail are losers.

Well duuh… Those are a tiny minority. Most of us are losers, we all failed at something and we are forced to live in a constant state of shame or to hide our inadequacies.

Plus most people nowadays hate their jobs. Even of they like the meat of their job, they hate the environment or feel devalued.

Get more government involvement going!!

Shit's working wonders!!! LMFAO!

1) How would ANY of this have prevented the Florida shooting?
2) How concerned are you about the continuing erosion of rights of law abiding citizens?

1) I wouldn't.....

2) Leftist hate individual rights, hierarchy is bad!!! They want equality...and the more extreme ones are more than happy to shit on individuals and their rights to achieve it.

Yup.
One shouldn't put a price on people's health.
Unbelievable that Hep C positive people from Western countries are now ordering medications from or going to India to get treatment, because they can't afford treatment at home.

1.)

#1 and #5 would have prevented the Florida shooting. He was 18 and he had an AR-15 Rifle.

#4 may have, too, since he was a dumb shit with no money and getting liability insurance would probably have been beyond his brainpower. But maybe not.

Thankfully we now have Gorsuch, and three more may retire (Ginsburg is 86 years old, Kennedy is 81, and Breyer is also 80), with Trump nominating for possibly/probably all three positions.

Which in and of itself is just another barrage of negativity. The truly wealthy have their own set of life's miseries to deal with. Contentment has nothing to do with net worth. Those with wealth don't live any longer, have marriages that last longer, and are no happier.........they just leave more shit behind when they die.

1. It would have prevented the shooter from getting a gun.
2. Very concerned. I'm honestly appalled that you show zero interest in protecting the rights of law abiding citizens.

Fortunately for pro civil rights folks the SCOTUS can read better than you.

And, already said that the 2A is an individual Right and not tied to Militia service.
And, has no authority to TELL Congress what to do.
And, has no power to "regulate".
And, can't accept cases or issue opinions until after a controversy arises.

It's AMAZING how much people don't know about their own government.

#1 and #5 would have prevented the Florida shooting. He was 18 and he had an AR-15 Rifle.

He was also a psycho who didn't listen to laws.

Your argument is invalid.

#4 may have, too, since he was a dumb shit with no money and getting liability insurance would probably have been beyond his brainpower. But maybe not.

Nope.

And I'm glad you're willing to admit you think only rich people should be allowed to defend themselves.

2.) How does any of this erode the rights of law abiding citizens?

1)because you get all your other rights at 18....keeping you from one of those rights for an extra 3 years is without question eroding peoples rights.

2)Your charging a tax for a right...good luck getting that through the supreme court.

3) Or current rights include pretty much all small arms. To remove that is directly eroding peoples rights.

We've already settled this. You feel there is no solution to gun crime, I believe there is. I feel people have civil rights, you feel they don't. We disagree.

Murder is illegal. So if the shooter is killing people (already against the law), what makes you think they're going to give a flying fuck about your 1 through 6 laws? There are already over 2000 gun laws on the books, what makes you think adding six more will stop the loss of one human life and have any impact on anything at all?

I didn't wait until I was 18 for my right to free speech.

I don't care what the killer thinks. I care what the gun shop owner who will face consequences for selling guns illegally thinks.

If this is really your position on laws, I'm sure you'll agree that building a wall to keep out immigrants also won't work.

1)because you get all your other rights at 18....

I believe the rights that are protected (not given by government) by the Bill of Rights are ours from the time of conception, thus the discussion libs don't want associated with 2A, the issue of abortion and completely violating the very most basic principles of protecting 'life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness'

I didn't wait until I was 18 for my right to free speech.

I didn't wait until I was 18 for my right to pack heat.

Either way, neither of those rights were legally protected for either of us until we became adults.
