When I was a kid, personal responsibility was everything, and successful parenting meant you had successfully navigated your your charge to the point where they could lead a self reliant life and successfully contribute to the world.

That ethic has 'progressively' eroded to the point that no one is responsible for their own acts and actions any more, it's all societies fault, and only ever bigger government is the answer for everything that ails us. It's a false promise, and now we get the result. What have therapy dogs and safe spaces given us? Whiners, kids who can no longer write a legal signature, and school shootings. 'Progressivism' has taken us backwards in the evolution of man. It's time we recognized the failure that it is, and reawakened the renaissance that led to our successes that we can now see clearly, if only we stop the denials.

The solution is something we once had, and chose to throw away as 'unenlightened'. If we are to actually advance and once again enjoy success, we have to restore the self reliance goal we once cherished, and end this cultural expectation that everyone else is to blame.
