High School Shooting In Florida

Because bureaucracies staffed with layers upon layers of bureaucrats are so cost efficient and responsive!

Great plan.

"If you are concerned about America being able to afford the cost of healthcare how do you suppose that we will be able to afford the cost of healthcare plus an entire bureaucracy on top of that?" -Thomas Sowell

He’s chomping at the bit to get that wonderful VA style healthcare, where being a vet means veterinary care... if you can get that in less than a 5 year wait

I'd love to hear any of your solutions to this problem.

There is no "solution", there is just management.

1) Shall issue licensing, background check and training. Nationally recognized and largely unlimited with regard to carry options and type of weaponry carried.

2) Shut down the DEA and send them all to the ATF and wage a war on illegal guns instead of potheads and hookers.

3) Better HC services. Not just access, but better too.

4)Education....chip away at a lot of the basic ignorant bullshit that gets tossed about the gun debate.

You don’t seem to like the people or the United States much. So why don’t you go back to where you came from?
Problem solved

That's racist!!

Besides it's progressive to hate the USA and most of it's people, just the white ones though.

Then we fundamentally disagree. I believe there is a solution to this problem, because this problem only exists in the US. Your position seems to be that being alive isn't a civil right.

That’s the left wing, pro abortion position...

If you'd like to have a discussion about abortion please go start a thread about it. Please don't try to change the topic.

I'd still love to hear your solution to this problem.

Make it the law that all abortions have to be performed with a handgun... there, now we’re back on topic!

We're not, but you really can't complain about other peoples' solution if you don't have an alternate option to offer.

Do you feel bump stocks serve a useful purpose in American society?
I sure don't. I would be happy to see both bump stocks and high capacity magazines banned.

I don't care about bump stocks as they're a gimmick that is hokey and they don't work very well, but you can create the same effect using a belt loop.

Should we ban pants?

I also don't particularly care about high capacity magazines, since they're really heavy, but I'm not into telling people what they can and cannot have, especially since the amount of people killed with these devices has been far less than fatalities from lawnmowers and hot air balloon crashes.

It's a fallacy that these actions do anything to make us safer. The "action taken" is done to make people like you feel better. If that works, and you feel better, ban bump stocks, and have the politicians proposing it sign a contract saying that's all they'll ever ban under penalty of arrest.

I'll support it.

You may want to re evaluate your profile.

But then if you ban abortion, you people would still be bitching about all those unwanted babies sapping off welfare.

Shooters like him should have been aborted.

This. In my younger clubbing years, we used to walk through the old Combat Zone in Boston. It was called that for a reason.

I also had to visit some pretty bad places for work. (You know it’s bad when a store has an armed guard, takes a look at me and suggests I get out ASAP)

When there are posters on every other pole, of victims of a shooting or drive by.

Never considered owning a gun. Whatch yourself. I have driven right through red lights before.

As a kid, I went to some of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the country, because I knew people who lived there, or to play shows, or just to fuck around.

I didn't have much to lose, and didn't care that much about my safety. As I get older, more established, and have more responsibilities and people depending on me, I take my safety more seriously. If you don't, that's your right. I just ask that you don't attempt to infringe on mine.

You are a problem. I would put you in the mental health category. Although you are just a troll alt.

I'll agree there.

Mental health care. On demand. Without apology.

I've stated it multiple times in this thread, but no one wants to tackle it... because they know I'm right, and they know that very few politicians actually care about doing the right thing. Instead, they'll offer their own versions of "hopes and prayers" by talking about banning bump stocks.

Awwwwww, li'l Dickie Daley, are you mad because you're being replaced by brown people who talk shit about you in a foreign language right in front of you?
Pobrecitooooooooooo

Had a visit to McDonalds, they had an all Mexican staff. They asked for my order in Mexican over the speaker, so I gave them my order in German. Bilingual as fuck!

I've also said the same thing. You can have all the guns in the world, but when the mental health care isn't right, havoc occurs.

We are also living in a culture full of narcissism and lack of empathy. The "it's all about me" culture. It is a cumulation of all those factors.

Move to San Miguel de Allende in Guanajuato. Mostly German retirees. When I wenback to see los abuelitos, the only other language I saw in print and heard on the radio and streets was German.
Mormons too. German.

Nazis on the run had to find a hiding place...

I guess there are places for more laws contrlling the ownership of firearms. I'm a model citizen, and it would take at least two years for me to obtain a concealed carry permit. I keep asking myself what specific regulation would have prevented this specific incident. I completely understand the rage. I'm enraged also. But we can't get politicians to fill potholes. How do we expect politicians to do anything meaningful about guns? Should we try for that utopia and simply take away every firearm? The thing is there are as many guns in America as there are blades of grass. Our society thinks that there is a legitimate place for guns. Hunters, security, target shooters, to a lesser extent. I don't think you could confiscate enough guns to completely stop school shooting. And even if you did, we would still have the same problems with mental illness and our culture. People are posting things about how England had a school shooting, so they took away all the guns and now they haven't had a school shooting. I think there are other explanations for that. But, I would still be troubled by the fact that they didn't address whatever would motivate someone to shoot up a school. You would still have just as many sickos walking around. I also think comparing our country to England or Denmark is simply an exercise in futility. Every culture and society is different, and America is unique, for better or worse.

Mostly the talk is hyperventilation rather than reason. People don't understand what a "Constitutional Right" is. Nor do they really care as long as they can get a new iPhone within an hour from Amazon Prime.

Expecting politicians to do anything is crazy. Politicians don't actually DO anything anymore. They slap Hello Kitty bandaids on social issues after the fact and call it good because "doing something" means bi-partisan cooperation. And that would cost them the next election. The fight over DACA is a perfect example - Trump wants to give the D's what they want. And they STILL can't agree with him.

This issue is no different. Rather than put blame where it should be - mental illness - stupid people want to blame the NRA. As if the NRA caused that fruitloop to pull the trigger. Or forced the FBI to dismiss the warning tip Or kept the school from notifying the police after they sent out a warning that the guy wasn't allowed on campus if he had a backpack. Or kept the foster parents in the dark over the monster they were supposed to be taking care of who was out of control because they weren't doing their job. The number of dominoes in this chain is amazingly long, but the NRA isn't one of them.

Im surprised there isn't more rage at the FBI. This was a monumental fail. They had the ability to save the lives of seventeedn people and they failed to follow THEIR OWN POLICIES.

I'll agree. But that "it's all about me" culture stems in great part due to the fake "rugged individual" aesthetic that the right has pushed for so long. People need each other. They need to be able to depend on each other.

Instead, like in this case, people pass the buck. "Not my problem" is what the teachers are saying as they're being interviewed. "Not my problem" says just about everyone else that could have done something to intervene and get this kid help.

"Not my problem" says donald trump".

It is all of these people's problems, including mine. That's why I'm demanding health care for everyone, including good quality mental health care. This kid was alone, angry, and sick. Because of that, he took the lives of 17 people. It was completely preventable, and not by banning guns.

When you ignore countless warning signs, and routinely say "not my problem" repercussions happen.

If this kid could have gotten into treatment at a young age when his parents died, and when he started acting out, if he could have had people advocating for him, I guarantee this wouldn't have occurred.

We are a society, and we fail as a society.

The FBI has been failing for a long time. Decades. They learned in Watergate that they could slow walk an investigation and get away with it. Unfortunately, the types of crimes they're supposed to be investigating are they type that need solved NOW! not have a report issued 2 years from now. They're worse than Congress when it comes to slowsville.

A culture that glorifies gun violence and attacks the moral underpinnings of society in the entertainment industry, daily. Electronic gaming for children where they get points for how many people they kill and women they rape. Today's kids are steeped in violence and disrespect for the authority and the law. Why are we surprised at the result? It isn't guns, it's us.

Huh. The old hateful racist fuckbucket is sorta right about something. That's new.
