A few. The first I recall was 'The World According to Garp'. The book is still better, but I was impressed at how they very naturally incorporated larger chunks of subplot into relatively brief expositionary dialog exchanges.

The one I should have been dreading but didn't, was Congo, one of my favorite Michael Crichton books, rendered ludicrous by cinema. Those fucking stupid white monkeys!
