The China Pearl Inn part 7

I don't hide what my job for the military is. I am a Chemical Weapons Specialist. In the civilian world that is very vague. I am trained in CBRN and I don't add the E because that was a stupid addition. I am BIDS trained and a few other letters and numbers That don't mean much to the military of civilians out there, not until we are needed. The only training I not have for Chem I will never have Instructor, i would have to go Warrant first. And I've done enough training without that training.

I like to say if I ever show up to do my job, I will be warning a three pieces sure. That's not completely true but it's funny if you're in my line of work. From the out side it's: Big Bird orange boots, yellow tyvek sure, and big black gloves. You will never get a good look at the SCBA on my back, just the fireman looking mask on my face. There is a world of gear that I might be carrying, shoes don't fit in those boots, and for all you know i could be Regemental/Commando under it. But dead or alive, if I came in for you you will be going out with me. If it's leaking it won't be when I'm done. That is one of my jobs.

For you military types if you got slimey doing your job, I will be there in my best JSlist cleaning you up when you come through my post. Or. You may drive past me on your way to what ever mission you have. I will be sitting in a box on a truck, sniffing the air. I sit there up wind of your post and watch you pass. Me and my partner will be saying a prayer for your safe return. We do so knowing that we will get hit with what ever comes near your post our job is not to avoid it but to warn you when it hits and watch how it moves so we can tell you when it's safe again.

We will never see our enemy no matter what the movies say. If we are the best and we are lucky we will be just fine. If we are just lucky our enemy will kill us quickly. If we are just the best at our job we will suffer for the rest of our lives. There is no perfect cure for most of our enemies. A number of the treatments are just as bad as the enemy it's self. And we do this so you hopefully will never know our enemy. We are honored to be able to do our jobs if we are call. We pray for ourselves, that if we ever do mess up that you will not find us till we start to stink. Because if you find us while we are still kicking, that means our enemy has found you too.

It takes a certain kind of crazy to do my job. The kind even the military brothers and sisters out there may never understand. We are often over looked in our service, and for the most part we are just fine with that. Its better that you don't have to think like us. It is better that you don't have to be a person who can wash dead bodies for twenty four hours with little to no breaks. It is my honor to hold your weapon and gear while you get a shower and shiver more from the mental damage than the cold. I understand you are scared and tired and hungry. My people are here just for you. And behind us are medics waiting to see you, there may be food just a little farther down the line. It's okay that you probably won't think to say thank you to us. We didn't do it for a thank you, we did it for a person. Be it those we swore to protect or our brothers and sisters, you are all welcome in our AO.
"Come over here and sit for a few minutes. We just need to get this guy down the line because he's hurt. No don't get up we got this one. You did your job we need you to get your rest before you go back out and have to do it again. Don't worry we understand he is your battle buddy, he is ours too and will be treated with the utmost respect and care. Why do we do It? Silly question. Because we can, and damn few can say that." But for some of us our last job had the same response to that question.
I have the honor of serving with men in green hats who can't carry that burden any longer. With red, brown hats, even had a trident with us for a few months. And if you know all of those off the top of your head I salute you. If you have ever served with them I say "To us and those like us. Damn few."

Someone get in here and lighten the mood.

*slides a quarter gallon of Toffee, half gallon of coffee and a shot of tequila along the bar.*

Shall we break open a bottle of port RT?

Uggg:rose:

Hmmm perhaps if we put a quarter of a gallon of toffee in the coffee, I might actually be able to drink it, well actually with that much toffee a spoon would be needed.

Hey SF how come you never visit me in my Group Uggg thread?

I didn't know such a thing existed.

Oh do you have 'show signatures' turned off in your settings?

There's a link in my signature. But here's your official invite -->Trap

Group Uggg is a place for my friends to visit me and I post poems there. Others are welcome to post theirs there as well.

Any CPI regular can consider themselves welcome in my thread:).

I have them on, but I don't usually read people's stories or threads. Your site looks interesting. I like poetry.

I'm not really much of a poet:eek: but the real poets tolerate me hanging around in their shadows. I just have brain bubbles and I needed a place to keep them.

Anyways feel free to contribute a little rhyme and meter some time if the mood takes you ;) and otherwise if I'm online and not in here I'm probably in there if your looking for a chat:).

Now you tell me. One minute I was sitting in my chair by the fire, the next I was under the bar buried in gin bottles. It is actually pretty amazing how homey this area is, but it stinks like gin. Time for a rescue, RT.

Speaking of my belly- must go grab myself some food while its not raining.

I'll be back later.

Well that was well written.

I don't think that I can speak to how well it was written. It was mostly ideas and ideals roped to gather with raw nerves grated on by raw emotions and raw feelings till it had to pore out in some format. Had I my forge up and running it would have been a blade true and sharp waiting some soldier's hand to find as a home. That's where most of them go.
Truth be told I would have failed English if I had finished school I was never good at all of the rules that made no sense in my head. And words were always just letters in some string that I could never remember because I could see what the word was but not the letters.

Some places go with you even when you depart them. Some change your life for the better and others... well you get the idea I'm sure.

Back.

Yea RT I'd love to shake the hand of the man that invented the spell checker;)

Without spellcheckers I'd be a mess

For me one of those places was Italy as a child. There will for ever be a place in my heart for travel because of the impact that Italy had on me. There will ever be a dark place in my heart because of what Italy did to me. Korea was much the same even as a man in the service. The culture was second to none. The rain washing way that much... It was part of that monster that sleeps most of the time now. Sometimes it is simple math some are subtracted so that many more may remain. And I can live with these times in my past. Because others lived, because of my past. But I can see death without a visit from my past. My mind always asks the same questions what could have been done different? The answer is sometime nothing. Sometimes there is no answer. But such is life when it come to you the way mine did.

Well, I can spell. I always could. But putting ideas on paper? Not so much. To me what you wrote, RT, was powerful because it brought forth emotions.

Now.. could someone give me a helpful hand in getting out from under all these bottles? It would be appreciated!:D

I'm afraid all I can offer is advice ;) The best way out is to drink your way out. Me and RT will start at this end you start at that end. We'll meet at the middle:D

Well as James Stewart said in It's A Wonderful Life, Let's just think for a minute here...before we help SF out...that's an interesting position there...

I believe I asked for a HELPFUL hand. If I don't drink alcohol, what makes you think I can drink gin!

I have a feeling waiting for you two to drink me out of here probably won't take as long as it should.
