The FBI said that "idiot" is Page. No doubt Page has had Fed eyes on him ever since.

But the FBI didn't obtain their 1st Fwarrant on Page until October 2016 - after the equally wannabe Steele dossier was purposely, politically-partisanly pimped to them. Fwarrants must be renewed every 90 days, and the FBI did just that on Page 3 times since the first was issued - which means there's been no Fwarrant active on Page for the last year.

Carter Page was under investigation since 2013, 3 years before the Steele document even came into play, so anything released to the contrary about something from 2016 doesn't fucking matter.

That leaves #3: there was nothing to charge them with. As Occam's Razor dictates, The simplest explanation and the only one supported by fact.

The problem here is, like the two quoted above, there are many who would put Hillary in jail for no other reason then they think she's guilty. No evidence, no fact, just mob rule. Remember the Trumpster's campaign chant: Lock her Up!
When the rule of the mob is instituted in place of the rule of law things are dangerous. Very dangerous for all of us. OK, let's talk about Page. Looney? I don't think so, just not very bright. Going through his bio and background he comes across as a self-promoting, wheeler-dealer wannabe desperate for a 'big deal' of some sort. Extraordinarily naive and singularly focused he was a classic target as a water carrier for foreign interests. An agent for foreign powers? Not in the classical sense. I don't think the poor SOB had a clue as to what he'd gotten himself into and considering his actions and testimony to date I don't think it's quite dawned on him yet.

As far as the Trump team vetting him, how was that to occur in a timely manner? The first introduction they would have would have been his resume' and I can see how he could readily manufacture an impressive document there, superficially anyway. They would have no idea he was being watched by the various agencies until such time as they were notified or his activity came to light by other sources which is apparently what happened.

But while Page was the subject of the warrant that fact still avoids the point that the unvetted dossier on Trump was used to obtain that warrant. By McCabe's own testimony without that dossier the FBI didn't have the probable cause to go to the court. The problem is that even if Page was the most pernicious spy alive today he is still a US citizen with all of the rights and protections that go with that. Using misleading and incomplete evidence to spy on a citizen is a violation of their civil rights, not to mention a perversion of the courts.

The democrats say that there is more evidence to bolster their opinion and plan on releasing a memo of their own............fine, I'll read that too. But quite frankly at this point I'd like to see an independent commission established outside the realm of the congress (partisan politics) and the disbandment of the Special Counsel. If the findings of the commission warrant a new Special Counsel can be appointed at a later date. What I want to see is everything that was going on in the rarefied levels of the DOJ, FBI, and State depts associated with the spying and unmasking. The democrats, some republicans, and the press keep yapping that the disclosure of such information to the public will so jeopardize national security that the collapse of the nation would be imminent. Of course they said that about this memo and as far as I can tell there is nothing in there that would lead to any collapse. Both parties have traditionally hyper-overstated the need to keep the public in the dark with 'National Security' being the basis for their reasoning. We've survived the Pentagon Papers, the CIA scandal of the 70's, Alger Hiss, Billy Sol Estes, semen stained dresses, water boarding, and Snowden's disclosures to name but a few without national collapse. I sincerely doubt that there is anything in any of those documents beyond methods and means that would do anything but embarrass and/or jeopardize the careers of some small group of bureaucrats who for the most part have put their own self-interests above those of the nation or the citizens thereof. And those are the very people we can do without anyway.
