I don't know why all these progressives are freaking out.
Did the D's hurt themselves?
Yes, everyone wants a DACA fix, but I was very worried about the polls which said a large majority did not think that was worth shutting down the gov. The hyper-lefties seemed to be out of the loop on that. The Dem's HAVE to be careful with immigration. My spies in purple parts of the country are always warning about that. A lot of D voters want limits on illegals. But the marchers are getting absolutist about it.
DACA is not over. They're acting like it was the last chance. Not so. The whole thing is going to happen again in a few weeks, only this time:
--the Ds have a public promise from McConnell
--they've proved they are willing to shut it down
-- if McConnell renegs in full view of everyone, the Ds will take less heat for doing what the Rs thus forced them to do
--The Ds are forcing a R decision on DACA. It can't be deferred. The Rs will have to either support it, or come out as full on calling for their deportation, which 87% of the US does not want.
Now, if the Dems cave again, then they will deserve every bit of this over-reaction.
Your thoughts?
