Perverts of the British Commonwealth

.

Mornign all,

Anyone want a cup of English Breakfast...

Nah, not a cup but a decent sized mug of tea???
Just brewed my morning pot. I'm turning into a right campaigner for LOOSE tea. Bags so lock in the flavour! I want that in the MUG, thank you! We've a couple of teapots with those internal strainers so it's easy pouring, no faf.

Mug? Defo.

I'm wanting another week of COLD so don't you folk go complaining! I need to move two of my beehives from one site in the garden to another. I can only do that successfully in one stage, if the bees have been totally inside for two and a half weeks. Otherwise the clever things, when they fly, would go back home to where the hive USED to be! But two and a half weeks in winter stuck inside and they 'forget' their satnav and have to 'learn' it again when they re-emerge. Clever stuff, eh?

If I don't get that length of cold spell, I would have to move them first to somewhere more that three miles away so their satnav makes no sense, and then move them back again to my garden, new site, 2 1/2 weeks later Faf! I want the easy way! Keep the cold! :)

OK, I'm a bee geek. But these little critters have me in awe and humbled. When I meet one of my Queens I always say, "Lady" when I speak to her.

Simon, there is nothing wrong with being a "bee geek" in Wicca bees are of great import and those that keep them are highly regarded. Since Roman times honey for its antiseptic properties have been greatly sort after

Brilliant mate.
Bees are amazing and good on you for looking after the planet.

Here's a thing: Long since it's been known that honey local to where you live [6 mile radius from home] is a health tonic in all sorts of subtle ways including sorting hay fever and other 'rhinitis' issues. My woman is very pleased that .... I no longer snore!

Also , it is tradition to tell the bees any important news you have, they like to be kept informed. You don't need to tell the whole hive just one, and he'll tell the others (they gossip, the little devils !:D)

I'm smiling that you say "he'll tell the others"! So happens that right through the winter there is not one single "he" among the approx 10,000 overwintering with the Queen. The workers - all "she" - drove out the drones to die of cold and hunger at the end of September, and the Queen will deign to lay new male larva in about April, for the summer, so her royal sisters' daughters emerging in other hives can have a ball in the high sky taking on lots of sperm from the guys - 18 to 25 drones for each virgin queen is good, all on the one fine day. Meanwhile, it's defo women only with the bees!!! :)

I can't resist sayin', seeing as it's Lit:
The 18 to 25 lucky fellas who get onto a virgin queen on her mating flight shag 'er with such fury that they all break off their genitals and then fall to the ground to die in a last glorious agony of achievement. Sure am glad us human guys can have pussy more than the once in a lifetime!
