Is this real life or a damn Marvel movie?

Which media outlet started it ?

(Whatever it is, that is happening, it is forcing them to create.)

hah,hah One of the hosts on Greater Boston said it, too.

He said "whatever that is."

The media seems to be intent on running superlatives and exaggerations into the ground. Soon enough no one is going to be paying the slightest attention to them.

New Jersey certainly appreciated the observation and reporting,on the storm that destroyed towns.

The bomb cyclone is expected to form off Florida’s coast Wednesday and sweep upward, reaching Canada by Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Bomb cyclones aren’t actually that uncommon of a phenomenon, according to USA Today, and describe many Nor’easters. They result from dramatic drops in barometric pressure when areas of warm air meet cold air, which leads to a more rapidly intensifying storm than normal, moving in a broadly cyclonic rotation.

This particular bomb cyclone, though, sounds like it’ll be rather unpleasant. Jason Samenow from the Washington Post’s Capital Weather Gang, writes that it could be “the most intense over the waters east of New England in decades at this time of year.”

Gee. I wonder where the excessive and hyperbolic use of superlatives comes from in US culture?

Must politely disagree.

Periodically, we formerly received winter storms that tear everything up, send houses out to float in the icy ocean, and flood everything with icy sea water.

Recent years have geared up towards mega- energy, staying power, and deadlier results, that we have, now.

Once in a lifetime, has changed to ever increasing in frequency, violence, cost, and more deaths.

These are not your grandparent's storms.

They've been doing that since the beginning of the news and that hasn't happened yet.

I don’t know, maybe out to Sea it will be a something special.
Where my Mom lives they started all this histeria.
The map says 8 to 12 with wind. Sounds like a typical storm.
Typical Jan. We have gone from snowmegedden etc. Every storm now has an extreme name.

Media gets ragged on again for reporting the news accurately.

Indeed. It is called a blizzard. They are now saying the eye looks similar to the blizzard of 78. This is nothing new.

I went into work this morning for 6:30 am, they booted us at 10am. It took me close to 60 minutes to get home which is normally a fifteen minute ride.

Its snowing like a bitch and gusty as hel. Visibility is down to quarter mile expecting 10-12" by end of it and tomorrow will be brutally cold.

Having said all that, I'm a lifelong resident of RI and I'm not seeing what is so special about this that its got this weather terrorism hype behind it.

I'm old enough to remember the blizzard of 78. Once you've seen that, no other storm compares.

We have had whiteout, all morning. The wind has been blowing the snow sideways, steadily, since this morning. It has dropped a foot of snow, with drifts.

It has not stopped snowing.

Yes, it is simply a hurricaine with snow. The unusual quality lies between the difference of the delivery systems. One man with a mini-pickup truck and a shovel, will take a very long time to fill your driveway with unwanted gravel. A behemoth dump truck, a front loader, with a crew of men will cover your whole front lawn, side yards, and driveway, in an instant.

The Blizzard of 1978 took Boston by surprise. There had not been anything so drastic, since grandparent's childhood. Boston has since formed a mechanized force, and a bureaucracy with a chain of command, with a budget. Boston sends parts of that force to other states, to dig them out.

Some people shrug, and say that it is snowing. They say that there is nothing unusual about snow. The meteorologists are trying to communicate that there is something unusual happening.

We are persistently breaking records!

We break them with ever increasing frequency.

Don't know about on the coast, but what we've been getting is just a typical old time "blue norther" that has decided to hang around a bit longer than they usually do.

[stormy city pictures]
Yes yes, big storms have occurred. No, weather ain't always our friend. The issues are:

* Do we observe increasing frequency and intensity of megastorms? (yes)
* Will a more energetic hydrosphere drive stronger weather patterns? (yup)
* How many 100-year floods will we see next month? (more than a few)
* How many drought refugees are heading your way? (all of them)

Climate-change deniers better hope their starving grandkids don't hunt them down for the stew pot.

How many pictures of 100-year storms from 100 years ago will Super-Surprise post?
