I am simply heartbroken. After you and I had talked, I was still hoping he was on one of his adventures in the outdoors he loved so much. So many here have used the words "one of the good ones" - and I don't think you can really give anyone a higher compliment than that. Such a kind, gentle, classy, wise man with a wonderful sense of humor. May he inspire others to be like him. Goodbye my sweet friend.![]()
Did you call my name,
Or was that the whisper of the wind?
Through the leaves of the trees,
Over the top of the nearest bend.
Did you call my name,
Or was that the sound of the ocean?
The crashing of the breakers,
With the waters every motion.
'Yes, I called your name,
My child, your time has neared.
Follow me and take my hand,
There is nothing to be feared.'
But LORD, why me?
That I don't understand.
'My precious child,
You're needed in another land.'
What does this land look like?
What do I have in store?
'It's beautiful, my child.
Paradise and so much more.'
I know you called my name,
But LORD, what have I to offer thee?
'My child, the thing always longed for,
Immortality.'
--GEV, 1992
I wrote that poem after one other special person in my life passed away, my father, and I have only shared it with other members of my family in passing.
My best friend deserves much more. But he will forever live on in our heart of hearts.
He will have immortality.
Jameslewis was the epitome of everything good in this world.
A few words that James chose himself.
I am of old and young, of the foolish as much as the wise,*
Regardless of others, ever regardful of others,*
Maternal as well as paternal, a child as well as a man,*
Stuff’d with the stuff that is coarse and stuff’d with the stuff that is fine,
Walt Whitman
He always had the right words for everything, didn't he?He chose well...
Oh wow, I was looking for a thread and came across this.
I am so sorry to hear this, he was always cool with me.
Rest in peace James Lewis.![]()
This is devastating news. He was a rock for me when I was sick. As other litsters have mentioned, he's truly one of the good ones.
Thanks for letting us know. I'd been giving him space and now I know why I hadn't heard from him in a while. I do hope his family is at peace with all this and my deepest condolences to all those who loved him here.
He will be truly missed.
Although I didn’t know him, I can tell by the number of posts that he will be missed.
RIP
I seem to be one of the few who was not acquainted with him personally, but I do know he was deeply loved by many.
My condolences.![]()
