Creepy or Stalkerish?

Hi,

I was thinking about how much work goes into most of the stories here and how the writers are only compensated with reader interaction. For authors whose stories I've truly enjoyed, especially those who have multiple stories I've enjoyed, I'd be perfectly happy sending them something on paypal or patreon or a similar service.

Nothing major, maybe enough to get a cup of coffee and a donut. Just something to say 'thanks and I appreciate your work'.

Sadly, I can't think of how to approach an author to see if they have something set up like that doesn't sound forward or odd or even creepy.

Thoughts?

I've had a couple readers do that. I don't feel right-me personally to each their own-taking money so I tell them if they want to support me buy some of my e-books that are stories never posted to lit.

I've never seen it as creepy or stalking, I find it flattering. I do wonder however, if a female author would feel differently as in obligated if the guy gave them money then asked for something inappropriate

It's a nice thought, but not sure how practical. I'd think not a lot of people would want to go through the troubles of setting up a paypal or patreon account just to receive a small amount of money. If they've decided to set up to make money from writing, then the easiest way for you to financially thank them is to buy an ebook.

I've gone the Patreon route. I've put the link in my signature and also in my bio, so fans have easy access to it. I try to make it as easy as possible for fans to reach out. Personally, I don't think it'd be stalkerish at all, especially when I have some fans ask about commissions/special requests.

Personally, I would respectfully decline donations, but I can't speak for others.

I have lots of books--both e-books and paperbacks--in the marketplace. Buying those would also give my publisher a deserving share, as the edit of stories was provided by the publisher.

I think it would be hard to establish a conduit. I don't think Literotica would appreciate having a writer using the Web site to set up a private payment scheme.

I don't think it's creepy or stalkerish. And as a woman I wouldn't feel obligated to give more.

I think if someone offered me any sort of payment I would be flattered. Would be a nice ego boost for sure.

Perhaps someone should tell that to the author here who has a 75+ series going on that will never end because he's making over a thousand a month on Patreon with the donation reward a sneak peek at the next chapter.

I'm all for an author making money, but it is taking a free platform run by someone else and making a profit off it which doesn't seem quite kosher.

Not to mention-for me any way-the pet peeve of this series is not being written in the sense of a progressive story with an end, but a never ending repetition of same old same old to turn a buck.

Now I called that author out as the biggest example, but there are others. We agree on this, want to support us? Buy our books and like you said others get some deserving money as well

If the author has PMs enabled, I don't think it would be creepy to message and ask if they have a Paypal/Patreon/favourite charity.

Agree. But I think this should all be initiated from the reader. I don't think soliciting payment through Literotica would be kosher. And if it's initiated from the reader about all the writer should be doing is setting up an account where volunteered donations could go and giving instructions on getting there if a reader takes the initiative. If you want to be paid for writing your stories, put them in the marketplace.
