Don’t count on being the biggest - most of the rest of us aren’t that brave, and everything’s cropped, and filtered and whatever else...

I have gained weight this past year, but I have also grown in accepting myself in the present, and trying to see myself through the eyes of others - especially those closest to me.

I'm at an interesting place right now. There are parts of my body i don't like the looks of, but when i don't look and only feel, it's an entirely different experience. Soft is nice.

Regardless of any hopes for weight loss, I want to like my body now. Sometimes that means being creative and finding ways to appreciate myself. Sometimes it takes work, sometimes it's as simple (but not always easy) as listening to my children, or to the men I am closest to.

It's worth the effort. The more I am able to love myself, the more love I have to give away, and the more energy I have for important things like encouraging others . It sounds selfish, and counter-intuitive to a lot of women (and some men, too, I imagine), but that's the way it works. The growing peace and confidence is nice, and so is knowing that I am modelling a better attitude for my children.
