My grandkids each received for their 3rd birthday a screw-in clothes hook from Ikea in the form of a dog's butt end, tail up. They absolutely loved-em and now, years later, still use them.
*wipes eyes*The best present I ever gave and received was a cheap set of wooden tree ornaments.
When my wife and I were first married I was still in the Army so my income wasn't much. We drove from where I was stationed home ( about 150 miles) and cut a tree on her parents land. Her mom and dad gave use an old set of lights to go on the tree. Even with all that we didn't have any ornaments to go on the tree. My wife and I were cruising through the local big ol' store looking at things we wished we could buy when we spotted a wooden ornament kit. it had a set of paints, brushes and these two dimensional wooden figures printed on thin wood. We had just enough to buy it. We decided it would be our present to each other. We took it home and spent the next week painting the figures.
We hung them on the tree and that was the only ornaments we had. My wife lamented on not having an angel for the top of the tree. I got out of bed after she was asleep and made a star out of cardboard and silver wrapping paper and put it on top of the tree. She almost cried when she saw it the next morning. .
Those ornaments and that star are still on our tree each year 44 years later.

A few yrs ago, the hubs spent months agonizing over the bumper of his truck developing rust. He keeps his vehicles absolutely pristine so this was a HUGE issue for him. So, I bought him a bumper for his truck. It was a bitch to wrap, but I got all kinds of attagirls with that gift.
