What's your attachment to human survival? Is the universe better off without us? Do you care if humanity survives into the next century?

I'm attached to humanity but I fear we will be responsible for our own undoing or a giant alien bug race will harvest us and enjoy us like crispy salty snacks. :)

well, yeah i care.

and the universe will be okay with us or without us. hell, this entire solar system could vanish tomorrow and the universe would just keep on chugging along.

You have a serious anxiety disorder with symptoms that include co-dependency and extreme suggestibility manifested by colossal gullibility.

Therapy and medication may help.

You really ought to get professional help.

1) I value my own life and that of a few select individuals. The rest of humanity I only value in terms of their contribution to keeping society, the economy, etc. going while I'm alive.
2) I suppose the universe doesn't give a fuck, but all other species on this planet certainly would be better off without us.
3) Nope. Après moi le déluge.

Of course we care about the survival of humanity!
The strongest instinct we have is the will to survive.
There will always be those few who rant on about how we're the worst thing that's ever happened to the planet, etc, etc.......But those same people will break through a window to escape a burning building.

It's kinda funny how the nay-sayers apply the death of humanity to other people, and not to themselves

I'm not sure will humans survive is the question. What quality of life will humanity have, may be the more pertinent question.

If the Earth dies, you die.
If you die, the Earth survives.

Not especially. I mean, I would like to avoid the extinction of the human race if possible, but I wouldn't exactly be pissed if it did happen, just a bit let down. It also depends on the manner of the extinction, are we talking an instant death meteorite impact or a post apocalyptic nuclear wasteland extinction?

I don't like suffering, so it would have to be sudden and total, no survivors to linger.

But only humans, not other creatures. Don't ask be how that would be possible though.
