I don't believe Anita Hill was doubted as much as people thought her complaints, many years after the fact, were no big deal. During their 12 year working relationship, Clarence Thomas made a couple of off-color remarks, to which she voiced no complaint, and she continued to work with him, even joining him when he was transferred within the DOE or wherever they were.

He called it a liberal lynch job, and I believe him. He wanted to leave the plantation and Liberals thought he should know his place and stay in it.

Up until the mid 1970s, California had reasonable rates: Community College was free except for books and ID cards; State System was a little over $100 per semester plus books and ID. University of California and private colleges were more, of course. The cost of a year of schooling varied as some of the schools were semester and some quarter systems. When Reagan was governor he tried really hard to raise the tuition costs. The state government allowed higher charges for ID cards, health and other costs. After Proposition 13 was passed and property taxes were dramatically changed, tuition exploded. Proposition 13 made dramatic changes in property taxes which were used to cover schools, libraries, hospitals, etc. After that, tuition began to go up quickly and they began to charge tuition for Community Colleges. Now, I have no idea how anyone can afford to school even with loans.

Things like grants and scholarships are available to deserving students, but college is still quite expensive. I would recommend to anybody they start with community college, which is cheaper and more convenient, take some of the required courses, such as English Comp. and History, and then transfer the credits to a state U. or other four-year college.

Who is gong to pay for it?

We all will, one way or the other. You either pay up front by spending the money to allow those of lower economic means an affordable education, or later when you have a completely un or under educated work force. Of course that doesn't matter if you intend to send all the jobs off shore, or import highly skilled foreign workers. In one instance you pay a pitiful small wage and in the other you let the host country educate them before you allow them in, no capitol outlay either way.

And I'm not talking about off shoring just the manufacturing jobs, but everything except service jobs. That way those who have the majority of the money can keep even more of it by not having to pay workers high wages and get to live like kings among the great unwashed.

One way or the other EVERYONE will pay for it.
