The third pandemic ca. 1855 started in China and killed many millions worldwide. Smaller but deadly attacks occurred in Australia and San Francisco ca. 1900. Madagascar saw outbreaks in 1995, 2014, and now this latest. My brief readings show the pestis bacterium becoming resistant to antibiotics but nothing about human resistance to the disease.
