Veterans Day commercial

I can see the board room now.

"The fans are really pissed and we are losing advertisers and money, what will we do?"

" I know, lets hire an advertising (AKA propaganda) company to advise up".

~Propaganda company shows up~

"This is what you need to do. Your fans are all redneck beer guzzling rubes. So let's run a commercial with a bunch of players telling them how much they love the military. We will put an American flag behind them and play some hillbilly banjo music. Should work like a charm."

Maybe they should all just take a knee... to the groin

I don't even know the scores of today's games. I have become a casual fan, but my interest will pick up when the playoffs start.

Playoffs? Playoffs? We're just trying to win one more PR game! Don't talk to us about playoffs! Playoffs???

Then on Veterans day three of them had the guts to speak for the majority of cowardly players and tell America how they really felt.

What's funny is that the college football team I follow publicizes the American military in different ways virtually every week, with implied endorsement of the entirety of American foreign policy.

But the people who complain about injecting politics into football never complain about that, because it's their politics.

It's the difference between loyalty to country and patriotism, and sedition. Glad you at least SEE the difference.

College football is the only football I watch these days. Because they still represent the core values of the American majority.

Fyi: This country was built on sedition.

Also, Sedition isn't a thing in this country because of the 1st amendment. Open a book, Mensa Boy.

A 4 year degree at Michigan State University will cost around $120,000.

YEP! Sounds like good ole BotanyBoy free market fuckin American capitalism right there!

I took a close look this weekend and didn't see a single college player disrespecting the Anthem, the flag, or our vets.

I imagine if thats all you were looking for then I guess all would be right in your world. NFL players should have bothered you long before they started doing anything protest wise however. I call that vacuum analysis..

You mean like wanting to keep and erect statues to traitors in open rebellion against the US? That kind of difference between loyalty to country and patriotism, and sedition?

Dope.

They were loyal Americans, and deserve the status of all other veterans, as declared by Congress. We have had, and still have, an ongoing debate about the Federal vs Confederate form of government, the first government formed by our Founding Fathers having been under the Articles of Confederation.

I've got a few friends who served in the military and not one of them has a problem with an NFL player kneeling during the national anthem.

This weekend was supposed to be a boycott of games but there was no marked difference in attendance at games +/- a thousand on average.

Disrespecting the military is:
-Insulting Gold star families
-Laughing about getting a purple heart the easy way
-Saying McCain wasn't a hero because he was captured

Fake patriotism is a disgrace.

A new league could be built tomorrow making the NFL obsolete in 3 years. Just takes someone with the balls to pull it off.

The last time that happened, we had the AFL vs the NFL, and the NFL got beaten in Superbowl III...Joe Namath and his New York Jets beat the unbeatable Baltimore Colts... after which the NFL simply absorbed the AFL. This challenge could happen again, especially since the NFL is now in a significant decline, far weaker than it was when it could absorb its rivals.

I wouldn't say weaker because they are far stronger than they've ever been in that sense, certainly financially, the landmine they dont see coming compared to then and now is, They had a product to sell. They had a business vision and rolled with it.

Today their product sucks specially compared to the 70's 80's and 90's even, and they want 1000x more money for it.

Its basically like if we went back to Large tube TVs and charged people 10x more than we are charging for our current television technology.

The thing that might save them is the younger generation doesn't know what good football was like anymore than they know what old tube TV's were like back then.
So they are basically buying shit and dont even know they are buying shit. While we payed less for a far superior product , in football that is. not TV's.

I suppose there is a subtle genius in all that , that I have to give the NFL and the owners their just applause..

I myself think they cooked the golden goose though and its just a matter of time.

Trump tried that with the USFL in the 1980s....the sole point was to sue the NFL for damages. They sued and won $1....treble damages pushed it to $3.
