The Commerce Department has revealed the 37 major deals signed between U.S. and Chinese companies during President Donald Trump's trip through Asia, totaling more than $250 billion.

The deals coincide with President Donald Trump's visit to China, where he was accompanied by a delegation of nearly 30 CEOs from major American companies.

"Deals can provide a solid foundation for a stronger relationship that is more free, fair, and reciprocal between the U.S. and China," said Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross.

I work for one of the companies, but nevertheless, I am disappointed there has been zero mentions of tariffs since Inauguration Day. Nothing. Zip. Zilch. Nada.

While I agreed with 95% of the MAGA agenda, and in fact was MAGA decades before MAGA was cool, the two biggest issues I supported Trump on were 1. Tariffs, and 2. improving relations with Russia.

So far, we've gotten neither. Not even any mention of tariffs, which would help to offset any lost government revenue from tax cuts. No doubt Congress would resist passing tariffs, but they haven't even been mentioned.

I think we need to start pushing Ann Coulter or someone else to run against Trump in the 2020 primaries on a pure, unadulterated MAGA agenda.

Lady F, I did not say they owned them. They established them and control them; they provide capital equipment, skills and intellectual property. Ownership is not the only means of control. My own family company has a small operation in China. We financed it, we supply the skills and we sell the product - mainly in the USA. The Chinese get the jobs and the local taxes, we get the profits which are mostly earned/paid off shore.

Thank you for your response, I don't doubt your own experience for a moment but am not going to accept that your experience is necessarily applicable to everyone else, nor am I going to presume to tell you how the world in general and China in particular is organized.

I will explain a little further. We do not buy, manufacture, or sell any thing in or out of China. We collect data for a particular industry, largely in Europe and the USA. We send that data to the Chinese entity, they process and do some interpretation of the data. They then return it to us and we in turn charge our clients for the service.

We have 100% control of the original (data) input We control the costs and price of the service. We are in China because high grade statistical/mathematical skills are available there cheaply. The work is done on equipment provided and paid for by us and utilizes our software entirely. We financed and established the entity originally, with the complete co-operation of local officials and have followed all the necessary rules with regard to local management, government involvement etc. So where is the economic control of the entity?

They have a particular interest in us because they are trying to establish similar services for their domestic market.

Your personal accusations and presumptions are boorish wrong and unjustifiable, but neither you nor they engender sufficient respect to warrant a response.
