... is for passing. Not for driving as fast as you think everyone else should go.

I lived and worked in Germany for several years, and spent a good deal of time driving on the autobahn. The unrestricted speeds made me really happy, and the rules for driving there are crystal clear. You drive in the left lane to go around slower cars.. and if you see someone coming up behind you while you're in the left lane, and you see them flash their lights, you are LEGALLY required to GET OUT OF THE WAY! If you stay in the left lane and cause an accident, you're criminally negligent.

I was only in Germany for three weeks, but it is such a pleasant, sensible way to drive that I was actually depressed for awhile when I got back home and stuck behind some of the dolts on this forum.

In many areas the posted speed limit is treated as the minimum.

eh, if you are in the left lane going slower than the rest of the traffic, get out of the lane

and here I thought this thread would be politic in nature.

The Right lane is for conservative drivers, these people will piss you off.

Oh hells no and I'm not about to turn off my turn signal. I pay taxes you entitled morons.

It ought to be a felony for a 16 wheeler to pull into the left lane.:D

just stay out of michigan, guys. they will drive you fucking insane here.

Philly and Houston are still my worst, I've been around to a fair amount of area's in the US/Canada.

Worse than 18 wheelers are the Toyota Prius drivers who will NOT ruin their precious mileage by actually pressing on the gas pedal. Worst of all are the ‘Smart’ car drivers.

I did a lot of driving last year with a woman that camped in the left lane when she drove. She was also incessantly chatty. I'm not sure how she made half a year with me and managed to stay alive.

The only thing I have to say about that is......nunya. And before you go off about "it's the law and you're breaking the law" do you obey EVERY traffic regulation? Never, ever talk on your phone while driving, ALWAYS signal your turn, come to a complete stop at a stop sign, never pass another vehicle (usually making a left turn) on the shoulder of the road, etc? I could go on and on. It's funny how many people will complain about some one else's infraction of the rules while at the same time picking and choosing the ones they want to obey. Go figure.
You can actually get a citation in Wa. State for left lane camping..

Yes it is. The only thing I'd like to see is a more stringent enforcement of that law.

Ding, ding, ding!!! We have a winner! I'll add if you're in the left lane and doing the same speed as most of the traffic, move over. Why? See above. Even if I'm moving faster then the majority of the traffic (which I must admit is most of the time) I'll keep an eye out behind me and move over if someone comes up on me. It ain't my job to enforce those traffic regulations and the only thing I'll be doing by impeding other drivers is pissing them off. Then he pisses off someone else and so on and so forth. Before you know it you have a whole highway of pissed off dangerous drivers. It ain't worth it.

Come up behind a car in the left lane....plenty of room for them to move over.... flash my lights, beep my horn and.......they just keep meandering along, flapping their jaw or playing with their phone ignoring every fucking thing around them. There drives the catalyst for some assholes road rage. Is it worth pissing people off like that? Not hardly.

Maybe it's from my years of riding a two wheeler, or my years of jamming gears in a
truck but 99% of the time I'm aware of all the traffic around me and what they are doing. When on a bike I get out of vehicles crowds if I can, out in the open where I have escape options. Driving a truck I try to keep it steady, room in front for braking, no sudden moves and no stupid actions (like left lane camping).

I'd be curious to know if more accidents are caused by those who can't be bothered to wait for traffic flow to move up in the left lane and instead speed over to far right and pass. Drives me batty when I see people do that.

There's a very simple solution for that.....GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE LEFT LANE. If the the right lane is empty enough for a car to pass you, then it's empty enough for you to move over. Simple ain't it? Yea, probably to damned simple.

Wow, why are you so hostile?

I'd like to point out that I was making the observation as the driver in the middle lane, watching people attempting to merge onto the Hwy while other impatient driver couldn't be bothered to wait for flow of traffic in left, so they skip over to right and cut off cars trying to merge.

But thanks for being so condescending and insulting.

Thanks and while I appreciate the sentiment behind the words, I have no desire to bury my head in the sand because someone else chooses a confrontational path. I will call it for what it is but I am an "in the moment" kind of person, so I won't be party to the ongoing grudges and slights I have seen on here.

In short, no skin off my back is my online stance.

:)
