The maintenance supervisor has tried to hustle me on a couple of things. Sadly for him, I see his dumb ass coming. And on Monday, the fucking property manager tried to get me to commit to pay for a redo of a clogged sewer. Yeah . . . no . . . . My boss was/is happy that I didn't hold still for that one.

Stoopids are here this morning too. We pulled up on an accident on the way to the shop this morning, some twit in an ancient pickup didn't want to spend an extra couple of minutes defrosting their whole windshield so they drove into the back of a dark coloured compact car. I stopped and checked and while bruised and hurt they seemed okay but the front car is compacted. I'm glad there were no kids in the back seat because there isn't much left of it. We left once the police arrived.

Coffee is good this morning. My new phone is supposed to deliver today after a month of waiting and reading about the shipping snafus others have suffered. I have one project deadlined on Friday and it looks like engineering revisions are coming in on another, so there's going to be more billable hours reworking our first proposal. Busy busy, this weekend.

What phone are you getting? Que swears by Trac-Fone's line of prepaid flip phones, but I don't know. I don't live in a trailer in the desert, so I can't be sure of getting the same call quality he does.

Initially I stuck with the basic Samsung dual-core. In the fairly unlikely event that I get robbed I'm not going to lose more than about 50 to $100 in my wallet and nobody's going to want my phone. What's in my phone is far more valuable to me than the instrument, itself.

I found I had to upgrade to at least a quad core, just to do basic stuff but I got one with that looks just like the bottom of the line.

Would be nice to be able to fold it in half like RobDownSouth's flip phone. I'm glad he's never upgraded to a smartphone; this way either posts on his employer's time from his employer's computer or he waits till he gets home.

Gives an hour respite from his sock-puppets.

Home. Still a bit more progress, nothing spectacular.


I did finally get my fucking tools from teh Home Depot. I ordered and paid for this such-a-deal with some tidbits I can really use. It was due into my store 9 days later. No show. The following week, they declared it MIA and arranged to ship another. That also didn't arrive. Well, the bonus piece did, but not the main set. So, a couple of more calls and an alleged third shipment. Last week, I got a call from them saying they were going to cancel my order, issue me a refund, and give me a 10% coupon, and then I could start over. Still nothing - no money arrived. Meanwhile, I discoved that this same bit if kit is on sale at the store 2 miles from the jobsite, but we're not able to make the transfer. Go figure.


So I called them back this morning. I got a solution-oriented person - something foreign here. After waiting on hold for 20 minutes, she sent me a gift card to my email for the full amount. In full. I called the store to verify they still had it and to get 1 reserved at the contractor desk. I got there and my buddy was going to lunch, but she referred me to her co-worker, whom I don't use any more because he's slow as molasses in February. He managed to fuck it up - full retail - so I said, "fuck this shit, I'm going to customer service." Yes, I said that out loud. I did, and they rocked me right on out of there, as advertised. Allah is truly merciful and deneficent, if about 6 weeks late.


The batteries are downstairs charging as I type . . . .
