Bludgeon people into submission and curtailing free speech

It doesn't silence free speech or discussion. It DOES silence harassment and discrimination.

Poll: 71% of Americans Say Political Correctness Has Silenced Discussions Society Needs to Have, 58% Have Political Views They’re Afraid to Share

Just yesterday or maybe two days ago I was talking about how people screaming Racism was being used to shut down free speech. And I've been saying it for for over a year now. Some here dismissed my claims.

I'll take my apology now.

Be careful, they'll ban you.

Oh, you poor persecuted white people. :(

If only the stat quo in society never changed for your benefit, you could skate through life thinking everything was lollipops and unicorns. I feel your pain!

Please give me one example of how any 1st amendment rights have been curtailed by political correctness.

Just one example will do.

OP source: Cato Institute propaganda foundry's own selective poll. I.e. birdcage lining.

All at no cost to those who want to be kind to others. It's amazing how easy it is to be a square-shooter.

And specifically this applies to discriminatory harassment.

If nothing else, the fighting words doctrine has merged with the threat doctrine today, and threats of immediate violence are not protected speech. To summarize, merely offensive harassing speech is protected speech. Speech that rises to the level of discriminatory harassment is not protected speech.

That's not curtailing rights, that's expanding civility.

It is expanding civility, but compelling civility is a violation of free speech. If somebody is fined over the choice of pronoun, that is obviously curtailing their freedom of speech. Personally, I would address people in the way they prefer, but that's my choice.

The only people not able to speak up are the haters, racists, homophobes and misogynists. Everyone else is perfectly free to say anything they want.

If someone is fired, then free speech had nothing to do with it. Same thing if you have a Facebook page, people discover your hate speech and then express their abject objections to your hate including tracking down your employer and getting your sorry RW ass fired.

It's about time we educated you rednecks as to what TRUE free speech is all about. You are not allowed to bully other people with your hateful, regressive, Bible-thumping mentality. PERIOD!

Prohibiting me from shouting 'FIRE!' in a crowded theater, or libeling or slandering folks, or lying under oath, or inciting riot, violates my freedom of speech. Society (in the guise of gov't) determines that freedom of speech is not absolute, that it should be restricted for the public good. That's the Constitution's goal, remember? "...to form a more perfect union..."

Okay, so you don't want gov't to enforce civility. How about if citizens do so? A calls B an asshole; B whacks A with a baseball bat. Civility is restored. That's the libertarian approach, hey?

No, that's the AntiFa approach.

Here is a copy of the First Amendment. Can you show me on here where it excludes haters, racists, homophobes and misogynists?

Freedom of Speech, Press, Religion and Petition

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

the cato institute can feel free to go fuck itself.

The first paragraph is true, up to a point. A gov. agency cannot fire somebody for what appears on a facebook page unless it discloses classified info. As for the second paragraph, being neither a redneck, a bully nor a bible thumper, it does not apply to me.
