Eh, at least the Yankees got a run in to close it up to one and not make it a total shutout. :D

Every season I am in I think is the best one, but then that's what Zumi would call my Pollyannish tendencies. But winter is beautiful. I'm more of an old-fashioned Alpha Centauri man myself, but otherwise I agree.

Sometimes I think all England is like a bonsai. Small, perfectly formed, but somehow artificial.

I wouldn't say artificial as much as human, but I think I know what you mean.

There is such a thing as taming nature too thoroughly. When your country has been agricultural land for thousands of years, and when the largest predator you have is the badger, it may be time to question whether you want to live in a theme park.

Whenever I’m in europe it strikes me that everything is used/worn/old...as if nothing could ever really be Yours... because so many people have been in that space for so long.

I appreciate the history of it, but after a few days everything feels old and dirty to me.

We have some old stuff in canada, a few hundred years old, but we have so much untouched land and such a low population density that you can always get to places nobody has ever called home and quite likely nobody has ever even set foot.

It’s quite different from the old world... dont know how people can live in those conditions. I guess its similar to renting vs owning your land.

I think Julian Barnes took a crack at answering that question about twenty-years ago with England, England.
