Is California Next?

Individual liberty is paying enormously today for the hard right turn into statism America took the last time state secession was FORCEFULLY dealt so tyrannically just to keep the Union together.

FUCK THAT SHIT EVER AGAIN.

There is no conceivable, logical winning argument for keeping any union together that includes the cost of over 700K Americans dead and the utterly despicable, even terroristic devastation FORCEFULLY executed upon the seceding states after the War itself was "won".

A union of states is collectively no different in simple, practical principle than two individuals uniting in marriage, and thankfully no such FORCE is permitted today to keep that union together.

On the politic scale with individual liberty (individualism) on one end and socialism (collectivism) on the other (and with any/every other political "flavor" simply a degree of either), patriot or tyrant is easily ID'd by the FORCE executed along their separate ways. No one can be accorded loving individual liberty if they favor FORCING any other to walk his way.

America's other GREATEST individual liberty hit job, of course, is one it is still bleeding massively today from, too: FORCED enslavement of human beings was more than logical reason enough NOT to form any union in the first place that included such outright repugnantcy. America's framers fucked-up big time permitting such FORCED inhumanity be any part of constituting a just union; statist Abe compounded that original sin by turning to horrific FORCE in keeping that union together.

If the Socialist Republic of California deems to leave that same union, if any state deems to leave, too, I say So, long and good luck...

...because individual liberty and decentralization cannot abide FORCE whatsoever.

Depends.....

If (D)'s get put in charge 2018?

Fuck no, they will do everything they can to stop that.

Last thing they want is for CA to leave, for at that point they will not be holding the reigns of power over the union for very, very long time. Certainly not without a change in tune.

If CA decides to bounce on (R)'s watch?

LOL...for the same reasons stated above we just might get a Curley Bill farewell.

And I'll be packing my shit and getting the fuck out ASAP.

My point is, the United States of America is not going to allow California to secede from the union, period. The question of whether or not a state has the right to leave the union was answered with great sacrifice and finality in 1865. The Constitution gives Congress the authority to suppress rebellion or insurrection. Simply reality. The law itself is force, without which there can be no order.

The importation of slaves was outlawed by the Congress in 1807. The founders, whom you lament, had the wisdom to create a framework for amending the Constitution that allowed the passage of the 14th Amendment to secure the rights of freed black slaves.

Though the road to freedom didn't end there it started there, and those who have walked it have become the freest, the most educated, the most economically, and the most politically powerful, population of black people on the Earth.

So do the Feds let Cali keep the navy, the nukes, the other military stationed there? If not (and I can't imagine anyone letting that happen), what keeps CA from becoming a couple of Mexican states? Cali ain't going anywhere without A) a civil war and B) a substantial break up of the other parts of the union. Not any time soon.

Sadly you are correct there. Washington is more powerful vis-à-vis California than it was with the CSA.

The US sure took its time.

In opposition to the bigots. If slavery left such a great legacy, I guess the Holocaust made Jews hardcore.

Still, decent points.

So you're a genuine statist then, willing to use whatever collective FORCE it takes to advance your statist way, fully understanding you couldn't individually FORCE another individual to walk your statist way without the full FORCE of a mob to do it for you.

As soon as such an election is held and secession is supported by the Governor and the majority in the legislature, the United States military will roll into Sacramento to arrest them and declare martial law. Just like Lincoln would have done. The United States is not going to cede its continental west coast and national resources to a rogue state and possible foreign exploitation. That's just how it is.

It's not about what I want or what I would support. It's about what the United States of America will do in its own national interest and strategic defense. Can you pinheads really be this naive?

we have a veteran who lives very close to the mexican border and camp pendleton and he has a bunker full of weapons to protect us from the invasion of scary brown people.

Tell him Trump has the border watch he needs to worry about the state's democratic party collapsing his local economy.

I don't doubt this- I was asking rhetorically because some people don't seem to have considered these issues.
