"We'll protect you."
First from the Islamist's, now from the Russians. Who else is going to make the censorship list? Facebook, among others, has already caved to the Chinese demands so why not to the political agendas of any other nation? He is slowly dismantling the very goal he originally was trying to achieve, to "brings us all together."
Instead he provided a platform for every crackpot on the face of the earth and well as a personable data farm of immeasurable value to nation states, police agencies, and various bad actors. And the "boy genius" didn't see that coming?
For crying out loud, if some of the reports I've been reading lately have any validity at all there are more bots on twitter than there are real people! Yes, I know that that's an exaggeration, but the problem is quite real.
I spent my entire career in high tech and met more than a fair share of 'futurists' that could only see the positive benefits of the path they were committed to following. I will have to admit that on more than one occasion, in my younger years, I was among them. So singularly focused on bringing about that bright and shining new future they (we/I) failed to consider the downside consequences, and sometimes even when we did consider them we studiously refused to acknowledge same.
