Facebook, among others, has already caved to the Chinese demands so why not to the political agendas of any other nation? He is slowly dismantling the very goal he originally was trying to achieve, to "brings us all together."

Instead he provided a platform for every crackpot on the face of the earth and well as a personable data farm of immeasurable value to nation states, police agencies, and various bad actors. And the "boy genius" didn't see that coming?

For crying out loud, if some of the reports I've been reading lately have any validity at all there are more bots on twitter than there are real people! Yes, I know that that's an exaggeration, but the problem is quite real.

I spent my entire career in high tech and met more than a fair share of 'futurists' that could only see the positive benefits of the path they were committed to following. I will have to admit that on more than one occasion, in my younger years, I was among them. So singularly focused on bringing about that bright and shining new future they (we/I) failed to consider the downside consequences, and sometimes even when we did consider them we studiously refused to acknowledge same.

Aside from the aforementioned issues by the OP which are political in nature, I hope social media is on a decline. At one point my friends and family were on my Facebook and Twitter and so it was easier for them to wish me a happy birthday that way or Merry Christmas, etc. Or you go out with friends and they are all busy with their faces glued to the phone. Social media was the decline of society. I got to the point I deleted all of it. And talk about fake news - people believing their accounts would be hacked, using B.S. disclaimers as their status because they thought it could protect them. So gullible.
